I think way to much is being made of the impact of the World Cup. Seeing some ridiculous notions club should be signing Italian players as aren’t in World Cup. In fact most players will likely be playing less than if they were still in PL. Obviously only half the international squad are starters, they get a 2 week warm weather camp in November. For me it will only impact a few players that go very deep. And even then I think it’s more psychological like if you lose in semi or final. If you actually win it I think you’ll bounce into rest of season. Although I must say it would be very very weird if England won it and then week later you’re playing Boxing Day fixtures.

It'll be interesting to see what the top clubs do during the break for the world cup. Obviously, not every player will be away and there will need to be plans in place for those remaining with their clubs. Has there been any mention of what will happen? I assume the players will be given like a week's break then continue training and possibly have almost another sort of pre-season, with some friendlies maybe?

No doubt DL will see it as an opportunity to have some friendlies in the stadium to generate some more income - that is if he is permitted to host any.

Southampton 1st game for us (I think at home), according to this guy, who’s usually reliable for team news across all clubs.

I love the leaks we get on fixtures

Its generally someone just guessing isn't it? 1/19 guess, then 50/50 Home or Away....Has there ever been leaks that have been bang on?

I would assume it'll be normal training with some behind closed doors friendlies. They will have to do something because the players that are not going to the WC will then be what 6/7 weeks without a game when it restarts

Which contrary to mosts thinking is actually more detrimental to teams that dont have a lot of players at the WC

Just wait until it's announced tomorrow.

There are leaks every year, most being wrong.

I believe its Southampton H first then Chelsea A second. I work at Sky before anyone asks my source. That's what i was told yesterday anyway.

This is correct, I got a peek at the list 15 minutes ago as it's been sent out to broadcasters now.

I've got the list in front of me now.

Boxing Day Brentford A

Last three Villa A, Brentford H, Leeds A

Not a single occurrence of back to back big games that I can see, looks very well spread out.

Edit: Man U and Liverpool back to back end of April.

Do we play everybody twice? Once at home and once away?

To be honest this is probably the first year I’ve been completely relaxed regarding the fixtures. Full trust in Conte that it doesn’t matter who we play and when.

I also reckon Covid will have an impact again this winter and we’ll see fixtures rearranged accordingly so how the fixtures look at 9am this morning probably doesn’t really matter.

To those that have seen it, is there a home game weekend of 22nd April? Really want to go for my birthday.

Seems to tie in with what others have said on here regarding first few fixtures

Liverpool always seem to get a promoted team first game of the season.
