Liverpool. That's how you maintain proper title challenges. You identify players that can improve the overall quality of the squad and get these deals done.

While we play catch up all the time.
They have thrown, usually someone else's, money at some clever buys since Klopp arrived. That is the secret of their success. Sell very high and then buy well with the proceeds. Something until recently they haven't been good at.

They're romping the league and one of the best sides in the world. They don't really need to go and blow 100m on a player.
I agree - that’s why I think it was a fantastic piece of business. He’s a top player available for a fee you can’t buy a youth prospect in England for nowadays. Wasn’t meant to be sarcastic

Apparently signed already though. Can't be wearing the jersey without making official?

What we know as the "transfer window" is technically the player registration window. When club A signs a player from club B, the player registration is transferred in the FIFA transfer database from club B to A. That can only happen in the summer and in January. A player can sign a contract and train with a club at any time once both clubs agree. Given that the Austrian league is on a winter break until February, Salzburg probably allowed Minamino to join Liverpool now as their players likely aren't even training.

If Liverpool can turn this Minamino dude into a half-decent player then they can take advantage of the Japansese market like we have done with Son.

Nobody else think that there’s something fishy with that Liverpool deal? So Salzburg needed to beat Liverpool to go through the champions league and send Liverpool out. Liverpool win easily enough. A week later Liverpool announce that they have signed one of their main attackers.

He had a release clause, anyone could have trigered it.

Gianluigi Donnarumma looks to be leaving Milan in Jan. 6 months left on his deal and wants out apparently. PSG being mentioned.

He's wanted out ever since he broke into the first team. I'm only a casual watcher of Serie A but I get the impression he really hasn't kicked on as they'd hoped over there, he was just an extremely early developer.

Mario Mandzukic has left Juve and moved to Qatar league leaders Al Duhail, managed by Rui Faria. Mehdi Benatia, formerly of Juve, is also there.

For a bit of reflection here, he's still very young. He's 18 months younger than Alfie Whiteman and a month older than Brandon Austin.

he just signed a new extension.Runs out in 2021

on another note, he looks more destined (again) to sign for Juventus as a replacement for Buffon
