Yeah with us being so painfully short in midfield I can promptly conclude that this is probably completely legit. 100% not bullshit.

We have plenty of midfielders true, what we lack is a quality playmaker. That's what I want, don't see us getting one, but looking at Schneiderlin's comments today about areas where Koeman is better than Poch maybe we won't be getting him in Jan either or anytime

Another cheap shot from us ... We already got stambouli , capoue , dembele in our cm roles .. Now we want to add another average players to our roster... Now we all know how will it end ...

I would either go for big shot players or stop collecting mediocre players ....

There's the full article, feel free to highlight any points you think I've missed

Morgan Schneiderlin was heavily linked with following manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Yet he appears happy enough playing under new manager Ronald Koeman at Southampton after failing to clinch his big move.

As his side prepare to face Arsenal in the Capital One Cup, Schneiderlin believes Koeman's Southampton are very different, and have improved in one key area.

He told London24: "Every manager changes the style when they come into a football club. It’s different to Pochettino, we don’t press so high and so hard during the game and we are more controlled in defence."

With the Saints sitting second in the Premier League table, the statistics back Schneiderlin up.

SeasonGoals conceded per gameOpposition scoring attempts per game
Southampton 2013-2014 1.21 9.61
Southampton 2014-2015 0.6 7.6
So far this season on a per game basis, Southampton have conceded less goals than they did under Mauricio Pochettino. Crucially they also concede shot attempts per game too.

The campaign is of course only five Premier League games in, but Southampton's start is to be commended.

Achieving an improved back line despite selling regulars Luke Shaw and Dejan Lovren, as well as replacing Artur Boruc and back-up Calum Chambers, Koeman has the club on the right path and financially better off too.

It's no wonder Schneiderlin appears to be content all of a sudden

Agree. I don't understand why we can't accomplish the simple task of identifying what type of player we need and buying them, like Dortmund always manage to do.

When Arsenal lost Fabregas they bought Arteta, obviously a downgrade but still a player of the right type that slotted into the system as a replacement. When we lost Modric we bought Dembele, then later Paulinho, Capoue, and Stambouli and were looking at Schneiderlin. The only direct replacement we seemed at all interested in was Moutinho, and of course we wouldn't cough up what was required. Since then, it doesn't seem like we've even been interested at all in a playmaker, and many good ones have gone to other clubs for decent prices while we've chased around players we don't need.
