I was wondering if that wily old fox of grey complexion would at least indicate what league this play is from as all signs seem to suggest it's the Bundesliga.

Why would Draxler sign for us if he was on Madrids radar?
And do you think he's still on ther radar after getting Bale and selling Ozil?

Circumstances change and whilst we don't currently offer Champions League football, we are still an attractive proposition with very exciting young talent and a manager, DoF and chairman the envy of many.

It would be churlish to to dismiss Schalke though as they are a wealthy club, great setup and he genuinely loves the club but just like Eriksen, he may well want to make the move to test himself over here - lets just wait and see.

Real Madrid have since signed Isco and Bale. He wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) go there at this point.

yea - I didn't mean Madrid would still be his destination necessarily but it wold indicate the level of club persuining him so I'd question our ability to attract him

If he was prepared to turn them down to stay in his comfort zone and keep developing where he is for now, why would he trade that to come to us when he wasn't prepared to do so for Real or Man City?

That's always thrown at players signed - oh if he was that good then Barcelona, Madrid et al would be after them.

Amazingly, despite our absence in the Champions League, we are still dining at the top table when it comes to transfer dealings and this doesn't seem to be on the wane any time soon.

Seeing as it's quiet and there's a chance this might actually be read, digested and thought about, here's a hint.

It's not Draxler.

I'm sorry, but the oath I took on the testes of The Goat's firstborn means I cannot say more, but I thought it worth mentioning. Apologies also for the hint being so cryptic.

Yes but often the interest from bigger clubs is often fan talk and media speculation

With this player he himself has stated that he was wanted by Man City and Real and no doubt offered a huge pay rise to move to them and at the same time play for a team instantly challenging for honours

But he had the level headedness to determine what was best for his career at this time (in his opinion) and that is to continue developing his game and learning his trade where he is to become the best player he can and leave when the time is right (plus he probably has a love for the club he's at)

This isn't a Bale or Berbatov situation where the player is at a small club who we represent a massive step up from and although he has interest from bigger clubs they're only interested in him as a development or rotation player and we have the advantage of offerring him first team football now at a club that still is a significant step up from his current team.

We're probably a sideways step for him and still out of his comfort zone when he's shown he's not looking to move just to increase his wage or profile, he would have moved already if that was the case. I also don't see what has changed for him and his career just yet, has he suddenly outgrown Schalke and a move to us would push him to the next level? he's already in the CL (at a team in a league as strong as our own) and we're a club with CL ambition

I'd be surprised if we signed him. But who knows maybe if we were offerring that sort of money his club would be more active in pushing the move through to which would make him more likely to leave (plus he could see Holtby as a familar face to aid his settling in process)

I have a feeling it is Reus, who would be worth the money.Massively unlikely it would actually happen though.

Not knocking GF as he passes on in good faith but the £50 million bid doesn't add up - Especially if it was accepted by the player's club.

We wouldn't bid for a player involving that money without the hint from the players representatives that they were interested - That for me eliminates the likes of Reus.

Really can't think who is worth that in today's market - Especially in Levy's eyes. It would have to be an top, top elite player.

I'm stumped.

IMO it was either the fee was wayward or it was a case of misinformation (or a third very unlikely one we were happy to spunk an obscene amount of money for someone not worth it)

Yep, can't argue with that.

As I said before, let's just wait and see what transpires but I certainly remain sceptical a deal of this magnitude will go through in January time.

I don't see how it could be Reus, I don't know why he would choose to come to us. He is easily worth 50 mil, but with the exception of him maybe wanting to play in the PL I don't know why he would want to come to us. Would be a phenomenal signing but just can't see it ever happening.

Kiessling would be a fab signing but he's not in the £50million category and if memory serves me correct, he signed a new deal earlier on this summer.
