Kanes problems are probably of his own making. I remember reading or hearing an interview with Rooney about the time he practically went on strike to get bigger money at UTD. He referenced how he took his foot off the pedal in trying to force UTDs hand, but also mentioned how difficult he found it to get back to where he was before he lapsed. Not sure if I recall correctly, but I think he mentioned a time-frame of nine months to get back to his best, saying that at the time it took him a while to realise that the difference between his level and the next level down, that he slipped to, was so little, yet so difficult to re-achieve. He took it for granted that he could just flick a switch and go back to being the next level up and that it was only then he realised the high standard of his opponents and that he needed the bit extra to better them. It was hard to believe at the time, but recall him being quite frank and honest about it and would certainly go a long way to explaining Kanes issues this year, as he most certainly looks off the pace and is really struggling to get his shots away before they get blocked. Just a thought...
