There's an article on this situation on the BBC website, which I can't be arsed to find, by Gwillem Ballbag that's quite interesting

What a waste! He’s obviously happy just taking the money! Boils my blood seeing it though, sure his money will keep him happy when his career is finished. He’ll never get those years back, and could have been a world class player who was playing every week at another club! Sad really

An interesting read. It sounds like bale was actually doing the right thing with the china move then real messed up.

I think this situation is actually quite funny because it's real madrid.

I hope he trolls them hard until his contract expires. I’d be sitting on the bench with my golf clubs and wearing those wanky socks golfers like to wear.

Think people dig too much sometimes as might just be he’s a bit shy and doesn’t like that kinda stuff.

I don’t always like talking to my team at work lol.

Whilst I’m sure his Spanish is probably better than it’s made out I do think it’s probably been a bit of a barrier in terms of fully integrating with the team. I don’t think that’s alll of it though, as you say he might just be a bit shy but he seems fine when playing for Wales.

Some people fall out of love for the game and some like BAE don't even love it at all and just happen to be good at.

Problem is when you earning that much money why would you drop £200k a week to go elsewhere? It's easy for fans to say the love of football but we are not in that position. That is a hell of lotta of love to swap for £10m a year.

If it wasn't for his love for Wales I would expect him to sit his contract out but I think that may change over the summer so he is ready for next summer. I just don't know where he will end up.

as an ex footballer it was just my personal opinion on it. I do get yer point about falling outta love with the game and all that as I personally went the same way. Maybe he’ll regret that decision when he’s finished, who knows! As for money he’ll never struggle regardless of what he would even if he dropped 10m a year

My best mate played conference football for numerous years and never loved the game. He done it because he was getting paid to play and even now after he retired a couple of years ago he doesn't even watch the sport.

For someone like me who played a decent level but never got paid to play found it mind-blowing for a long time especially as we had been playing in the same youth team since we were 9.

You find it more with goalkeepers such as Stuart Taylor, Richard Wright, Carlo Cudicini, Danny Ward and Lee Grant baffling that they trained/train all week and never play when they could of moved down the league. But football allows a certain lifestyle which means more to a family then football itself.

I think its a waste for him to remain at RM . Taking a few mill less at another club , really at his level of wealth this shouldn't be a major issue.
To hang round a club where he is unpopular and not play much...just to add an extra few percent to his vast wealth .

Call me old fashioned but that looks like greed over personal happiness . Unimpressed .

Some of his team mates have been arses to him as well like Courtis who joined after him then started bleating about him not integrating and playing golf etc.

I‘d be like mate mind your own facking business and worry about being a bit less shit in goal eh?

He should have come back to use two seasons ago, shame now as think he is just that bit too old now to get enough seasons out of him. Although would still not be opposed to it...

They've been like that since he first signed him, teammates that pretty much would refuse to pass to him for example, then ripped him to bits over that heart celebration (TBF that may have been more down to which ever twonk of an advisor went public saying he was trade marking it)
Then there was press an fans re-writing history, for example he was the one whose goal that actually won them the Spanish cup in his first season, his goal was the one that actually won them the Champions League, Ronaldo putting in two after that was irrelevant, the reason CR was able to get those goals was due to the opposition having to open right up to try and score. His overhead goal was much better than CR7's. Is he a better player than CR7? No but he didn't really get a fair crack to prove he should be in the conversation.

Instead of it being a tale like those nights verses Inter Milan it became the CR7 all conquering hero. Plus a team full of shitheads like Marcelo, Ramos, Pepe, Di Maria etc he was never going to win those over.

He walked into an untenable situation IMHO, it was always CR7's team; even when he left, ambitious set of boots to try and keep up with, honestly I think it was daft in the big rush to move him that year.

I'm glad he trolls the crap out of them, they deserve it.

I wouldn’t say completely wasted as he did play in some massive cup finals on and win some serious trophies.

Just a shame he maybe didn’t come back to us two years ago as would have been an outstanding addition to a team very much on the up.

Him up top alongside Kane and Son, giggidy...

Zidane comes across as a massive bellend in his treatment of Bale as well.

I wonder what on Earth his problem is?
