I Hate This Fixture (Chelsea)

I really do. I can't stand Chelsea for a start. If I were older then perhaps I'd have more hate for Arsenal, or even West Ham, but Chelsea are the one club in this league that I dislike the most. The chairman, the manager, the players and the fans. There's a lack of class that runs all the way down to the core. What's worse is that the media seem to love them. I think it's because they personify that English "bulldog spirit". Case in point with the way they won the Champions League, and being captained by a toe-rag that, albeit a despicable character, gives 100% for his team.

I'm not happy with the way the media have jumped on Mourinho's ref bashing. The guy is doing it on purpose because he knows that he can draw attention away from dropping points and to plant a seed of doubt into the head of the ref for our upcoming match. Typical Mourinho cheap tactics. Unfortunately, he's good at it and it often works. The media just as guilty for feeding it. There's an article on the BBC site right now about whether there's a "campaign against Chelsea". Seriously? You'd think decisions like the Ramires "penalty" against West Brom last season never happened.

I've got a horrible feeling that there's going to be at least one big shit call from the ref in this game. We often seem to get some horrid decisions in this fixture, usually more so when at Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho is clearly playing his game very early in the build up to this match. I just hope the match officials are smart enough to see through it.

They're 100% guaranteed to get a penalty against us because of Mourinho's mind games.

Concur. They are an a'hole club from top to the proverbial bottom. Mourinho's comments about a campaign are as deluded as they are unnecessary, his team should be good enough to beat most teams anyway - and if they draw, so what, they are still top of the league. He could show a bit more class than that, but obviously isn't capable.

I hate everything about that club. Their rise on borrowed money, their 'luck' at being bought out (a reward for mismanagement!), their tossery PA announcer, John Terry's ugly face, Diego Costa's ugly face, and the media reacharounds that go on about them as if we're supposed to be thankful for Chelsea somehow. Mathew Syed had it right about them when he blew Cascarino's mind.

This is what Gary Neville said yesterday on comments by Jose Mourinho after their match against Southampton. I just hope that this will not play on the referee's mind for our New Year's game against the Chavs. What is required here is for MoPo to exert his own pressure during the pre-match conference and comment on this issue himself.

The words by Mourinho are unacceptable and if they are, then everyone is entitled to say words to the same effect, that includes our own Gaffer. I'm not saying that MoPo should say that there is a campaign against us, far from it, what I'm saying here is that MoPo has to exert his right and have his say on the matter.

Mourinho is trying to pressure referees, I have no doubt about that. We must stand up to him, so Cometh the Hour Cometh the Man. Step up MoPo.

It's not uncommon for managers of the top clubs doing this, and it normally tends to work.

I would like to see poch respond by saying something along the lines of "expecting the ref to be fair and not swayed by others comments of previous games"

There is no doubt we have been lucky this season but I also think we have had many decisions go against us too especially with penalty's that kane should have had, I can think of three off the top of my head.

Chelsea haven't been anywhere near as convincing away from home recently. Hopefully we will take confidence from finishing strongly and as the aggressors against United and can get something from the game. Beating Chelsea in controversial circumstances would be the greatest start to the new year.

That would feel awesome, beating them at their own (Mourinho's) mind games. Wipe the smug off his face, so to speak!

Mourinho can fuck off quite frankly.

The reason his team are being closely scrutinised for diving is because in 2 games they had four of the more blatant dives you will ever see (two of which they got away with incidentally...not sure where that falls in his 'conspiracy').

But I suspect he knows that more than anyone. He'll be telling his players to go down in the box on Thursday at any opportunity, having now put the thought into the ref's mind that he'll be seen as part of the 'campaign against Chelsea' if he doesn't give a penalty.

Do we know who the ref is for the game? Hope it's someone with a bit of backbone.

Splashed all over the news today so I'd say it worked. It still amazes me how the media fall for his bullshit, but they are easy stories and means there will be more down the line.. anyway..

Refs fall for this sort of crap all the time. Even yesterday, Rooney had a word with the ref and then the next soft touch was a free kick to them. David Moyes once commented that the ref in a game between his Everton team and Chelsea was starstruck by their big names and trying to get their autographs after the game.

Phi Dowd, He's actually quite strong in character and don't think is easily swayed by small talk Moaninho

Yep I think he'll be okay.

Would have been one of the rare occasions I'd have been pleased to see Clattenburg, but Dowd shouldn't be easily cowed by Mourinho's nonsense.

Especially if you add to the equation that we've given away more pens than any other Premier League team.

He'll be more than aware of that...

Agree to a certain extent with the OP, Chelski are certainly a rancid club full of unsavoury characters from fans, to players, to management right up to the owner.

However I don't hate the fixture so much. The atmosphere at the lane is usually really good and ever since Lennon drilled past Cashley Cole at WHL, and Woodgate headed home in extra time at Wembley a few years back to break their hoodoo over us, I don't think they have the same fear factor that they used to have. If anything I think Chelski fear the fixture (at WHL) more than us these days.

Looking forward to the chants of 'John Terry, your Mum's a thief'!
