Friedel, Livermore, Gallas who have played cameo roles this year formed part of the spine of our team. This was never going to be an easy night for us.....especially away to Inter. We where disjointed. An example of when a clear lack of communication between Gallas and Freidel almost left i think Cassano in on goal. Naughton was having a tough time and their right hand side was casuing us trouble big time. Does AVB change his ideas now we are at the pointy end of the cup.....

Lots of empty seats at the Chav stadium tonight, they obviously don't think much of winning this trophy LOL

I think the tactics for this game were all wrong from the off, the players looked comfortable and in control for 15 mins, happy to defend the 3 nil lead until Inter said no were not standing for it and started easily getting through. Weve got through by the skin of our teeth and weve played poorly the last two games. we need to forget about tonight and focus on the next game, come back strongly and have belief. at the end of the day were through, its at times like these that AVB will prove his ability's as a manager.

Defoe is such a poor contributor to the team, he's selfish way beyond what a 'clever striker' needs to be, his vision and touch is awful.

Livermore, young but no where near first team quality, ever. Looking at him and Holtby, who has been way over hyped imo, you can see that Holtby has at least some class about him and will improve while Livermore looks lost.

Galas needs to retire.

As well as a couple of forwards and Moutinho we need to improve on Walker in the summer too.

Ok the bottom line tonight was that we were caught in the classic European trap. All we had to do was stop them scoring three goals but if we got a goal they needed five so we were caught in the middle. We didn't decide on one or the other and so were hesitant at both but when we needed to score we did it properly and dominated them until we scored and when we needed to defend in the last ten minutes of extra time we we held them comfortably.
Ironically had we not led 3-0 from the first leg we'd never have let in four goals.

So, which team would you all rather face next?

Rubin Kazan, Basel, Lazio, Chelsea, Benfica, Fenerbache or Newcastle/Anzhi?
