Apologies - I wasn't twisting your words, just not remembering it correctly. Still...oil rigs?!?

As for Lloris, I don't think it is unreasonable to have suspicions about this injury. Hopefully it is literally just a case of bad timing, but it doesn't look good when a news story comes out about Madrid's interest in him and a few hours later he's ruled out of our pre-season games.

You look back at our three biggest sales - Berbatov, Modric, and Bale - all three either refused to play for the club or had a convenient 'injury'. I'd like to think that Lloris is above that, but there's no denying that it has proven itself to be a successful method of encouraging a transfer away from the club.

We've also heard that the club has made deals with players in the past, such as telling Modric and Bale they could leave after one more season. Bale's transfer to Madrid, according to ITK on COYS, was being prepared a full year before it happened. It's hardly 'tin foil hat' levels of conspiracy to think that the club may have some arrangement in place with Lloris, and that they'd be complicit in spinning a story to explain his absence from pre-season/first games of the season as a deal is finalised.

If he had a thigh strain or something then yes there would be something to be concerned about, easy to fake a thigh strain, but a broken wrist is not subtle, you can bet he will have had scans and x rays done by club doctors, i have no doubt the injury is genuine

We're in a post Bale world. When Gareth was off to Madrid and his duties at Tottenham became untenable, he 'refused' to play, or so the media reported it, much to the general derision of the fans. A PR mistake by Tottenham, to not anticipate how the situation might play out. Bale didn't refuse to play. It just wasn't in the best interests of any party involved, that he should.

The De Gea and Lloris transfers will be the ones that rumble into the Summer. I think measures have been taken to stop the same thing happening again. Lloris would go to Manchester United, that much should be certain. There is interest. All this is, is damage limitation, should a transfer go through.

@LaurensJulien: Also, good news for Tottenham fans. L'Equipe reports that Hugo Lloris will only be out for 2 weeks & will be ready for start of the season:)

@LaurensJulien: Lloris only fractured a minor bone of his wrist three weeks ago. He still did all his fitness preparation for the season and will be ready.

L'Equipe has not proved to be the best source of info on Lloris. Hope they are finally correct about something, though.
