Is it a good time to play Chelsea?

They are on the worst run they have had for a good while, it will have to end soon.
I just can't shake the feeling that we could be the team who feel the full brunt of a Chelsea performance this weekend.

Obviously I hope I am wrong. We have a great recent record against them and they are playing shit.

What are the thoughts of the SC masses?

This has been in my head too. I said to my mate I'd rather be playing them at home with them as the favorites. But no doubt about it, if they play as they have been, we should certainly beat them, but they have to turn their form around eventually

I think it's as big a test for us as it is for them, in different ways. We could end up above them in a few weeks and Sunday will be a good chance to send a message.

I agree with you. I don't think it's a good time to play them, as we seem to have a habit of providing teams going through a slump with the opportunity to 'turn the corner'.

I'd be more confident if they were on a winning streak.

It's games like this that should prove how far we have come or how far we have left to make up. A massive opportunity for us to stake a claim to be a top 4 side again this season. I think that it will depend on whether Drogba turns up of not.

Do we know if VDV will be back fit for this one?

I assume Modders will have shaken off his man flu! that'll be a bonus, maybe we'll be able to retain the ball, which we didn't really do in the Twente game.

its a good time to sit back, be compact , let teams try and break us down and try and smash them on the counter

I think it's a great time to play them. Their confidence is low, ours is mile-high. You don't suddenly play better just because you've been on a woeful run of form. It's a lucky or scrappy win that helps build confidence from the nadir of a losing streak, rarely a particularly strong performance.

The old saying does warn to be wary of a wounded animal, but yeah it is a good time to play them. They are missing Essien and Lampard something chronic, Malouda seems to have lost his mojo, and their defence looks slow and uncertain.

We beat them last year when they were buzzing but most certainly would seem a very good time to be playing them right now.

Would have fancied us regardless though.

The best way to look at this is...'Is this a good time to play Tottenham'?

The answer is no, we will win, and win well

Yeah a very interesting question that I was asking myself after seeing that twait Terry's post-match interview last night.

On balance it's a very good time to play them but you simply can't legislate for psychology in these scenarios. We should be sky-high but will we be complacement ? Will this be THE game where they try to re-assert themselves on the Prem ? Will they collapse or try harder if they concede ? Will we sit back if we score first ?

Who can say ? Makes it exciting doesn't it ?

I shall be watching in Brussels. I reckon I'll try to find the Irish pub in which I watched the NLD in in 2001. I split up with my then gf shortly after as she claimed she thought I was joking when I said I'd be watching the match ! This time i've made it 1000% clear and gf will be watching with me :)

it could be a terrible time to play them as they might spank us and turn a corner....

or it could be a GREAT time to play them and really give them problems if we win... do they sack Carlo if we spank them?

I'm sure they will come out all guns blazing, trying to assert themselves and get on top of us and hope to exploit any complacency we might have or our much talked about defensive leakages. We need to be strong, resolute, not concede early and try to keep the ball and gain control because if they get no change early on they will have doubts creep in.

They'll go all out us I'm sure, but they will be a house of cards, they could collapse if we whether the arly storm then do what we do best.

What Chelsea really wanted was a home game against Wigan this weekend, not a trip to WHL.

we plyed them off the park last year when they won the title, we will play them off the park again.

I can see a 3-0 or 3-1 victory

I'm nervous about this one...Chelsea are a good team, there's no doubt about it. This bad run has gone on far too long for them, they'll come out of it sooner rather than later and I can see it being as sonn as Sunday!!

Our mentalaty has changed under HR, he's got us believing we should be mixing it with the top teams and you can see we have changed because of that. There's no way we'll be fearing playing Chelsea.

We should beat em, but things like this do happen in football, they'll get the rub of the green & a lucky decision and that'll be them getting out of their slump!

Hope I'm wrong!!
