I love to see entertaining attractive football, but in 10 or 20 years time if we don't have any trophies in the cabinet then people won't remember the fact that we may have played nice football, all they'll see is that Spurs didn't win a trophy since 2008.

At the moment our team is still gelling and we don't even know what our strongest lineup is. However with the individuals we have, we will eventually start playing some blinding football - i'm sure of that, and when we do it will be a sight to behold.

At the moment we're playing average football but we're still grinding out the results and we're in 4th place, only 3 points off the top. If we can do that now then think what we can do when we have a squad that knows each other as well as it did a couple of years ago?

Um... does anyone think that we are the finished article yet? Lot of new players (including Rose and Townsend) have come in and are learning AVB's style. Think by January we will be scoring a few more goals and creating chances. That is what get fans excited.

So will wait to see what our style will finally be before deciding that AVB is George Graham reborn.
It's obvious no-one thinks we're the finished article. Also, Rose and Townsend seem to be two players that are already fine with his style. AVB's teams, when he has a real attacking left back in the line-up, have already shown that they are a real attacking force. Any George Graham analogy is moot in every which way, especially as a Graham team would never have allowed a 0-3 to the Hammers with the players we had at our disposal.

The stakes are very high for losing. 3 or 4 defeats a season and you are out of the title race, the desire to entertain is outweighed by the need to win.

It's a shame in a way, but that's the game now. There is a place for entertaining, but you have to win first. A scrappy 1-0 win is more important than an action packed 3-2 defeat. More teams set out not to lose, that means maintaining possession or stifling a superior opposition. The challenge is to turn dominance into goals, like them lot down the road manage against bottom half fodder. A few goals in quick succession against teams like Norwich and Sunderland this season. We don't, but we should be able to. Maybe once the team is settled...

The Tottenham way was never to just go gung ho. Im 51 & 61 we had the 2nd best defensive record in the league.

If Bill Nic & Dave McKay were playing in a 4-4-2/4-5-1 they would be the holding midfielder.

Great defense is how you win Championships. Being strong in that area doesn't contradict the Tottenham way.

Think it helps that our long distance treks in europe are over (tromso should be ade and a few kids + players who haven't played enough). At least till the knockout stages.

The spurs way, go 2 up against Arsenal and lose 5- 2, go 3 up against Man u and lose 5-3, it is entertaining but not for me.

We've been known as a team with a soft center and legends for years. We are building something good here but patience is needed. Many supporters want things yesterday and that is the problem, I think they've become spoilt in recent years because of our league results.

That never was the spurs way. What a ridiculous post.

The Spurs way, which is a progressive passing attacking way wins more league titles that the George graham way.

Really? How many titles have arsenal won under George Graham and how many have we won in our whole history?

Name one major league in the modern era being won by the most boring team in it.

There is no correlation between success and negativity.

Its a fair point, but we arent the most boring team in the league so not sure why it matters?

How many goals a game do our league games average. And is anyones lower

If youre a neutral and spurs are on, you go watch another game. I would.

So you don't think we are any more exciting to watch than Stoke, is that what you are saying? Just what is it that you want? Do you want AVB gone, is that it? I ask because you don't seem prepared to give AVB the time he needs.

There is no point to professional sport other than as entertainment. At the moment I am not being entertained as much as I was a couple of years ago. Now, you can say yeah but we failed in our objective for the season a couple of years ago. The point is I was being entertained and i had the added bonus of hope. Even last year when we were slow and predictable there was always the hope that Bale was about to produce something magical which I found entertaining. This year we have been stodgy, slow, predictable and very uncreative. As a form of entertainment we just haven't delivered for me. Obviously I still watch every game but it hasn't been fun. So the question is will success gained by playing as we do compensate for not being entertained? Chelsea fans I know couldn't give a shit that they won the champions league playing horribly negative and boring to watch football. Under mourinho the first time round they didn't care how they played as long as they were winning leagues and fa cups and competing every year for the CL.. For us , we haven't experienced any success but have been a joy to watch . The hope has been there too so its not as though we've accepted failure in order to watch exciting football. Until we have success playing this way we won't know if it compensates for the lack of excitement, anticipation and sheer thrill of watching a team inconsistently tear other teams apart with the type of football we've gotten used to over the last few years.

Im not saying we are the most exciting team in the league right now but goals to game ratio doesnt in any way shape or from represent what has happened on the pitch during the game. We had 20 shots on goal against cardiff and first half against swansea was a very exciting half of football as was the first half of the chelsea game.

But... 9 goals. 5 (or 4?) from open play.

Do you believe we have been exciting or dull as a matter of interest? Are you going with stats, or what you have seen. I see what you are doing and I admire your tenacity, but surely you cant be arguing we are anything other than tedious.

The time he needs for what? To figure out he doesnt need to use our squad negatively.

All I know is what I see, Unlike you I am not inventing or assuming a future where its magically changed. In my opinion, you keep doing the same thing you keep getting the same thing.

I want to see us use our considerable playing resources with some more intent. If AvB can do that cool, saves fucking around for another manager. i have no vested interest in who can do it personally but I dont agree we need to play like we do.
