Jose with Kane and Son on PL: 12 points on 6
Jose with either Kane or Son: 14 points on 8
Without either: 2 games, 0 points

Son and Kane being unavailable isn't the reason why our defense is rubbish

But it’s a big part of it when we can hold up the ball and give it straight back to the opposition. Their counterattacks came from our “forwards” losing the ball for the umpteenth time

Must admit, I’m worried.

Its been a poor start. We look so slow with no intensity and with no style.

I’m watching Villa, even they look quicker and more intense than us.

Its not good enough, that’s for sure.

Seems fair.

I think today looking around on here I'm not impressed with being a Spurs fan. Having a blast or having a constructive grump is one thing. Today is worse than last week and we did all the things that everyone has been moaning about all week, today, on the pitch.

Fingers crossed you get to move seats! ?

And it will get worse. I think we will beat Norwich but won’t win another league game until one of son or Kane are back. Strap yourself in.

I’m surrounded by people who sell their tickets on the exchange. Leipzig I had two Leipzig fans next to me ( didn’t go down well at all! ) and about 5 behind a few rows back.

I appreciate the exchange is there for a reason but I’ve yet to use it. Today was second game I couldn’t make this season and I have my ticket to family member ( previous game was Burnley ? )
What a lot of people don’t realise is selling your ticket on the exchange doesn’t help the atmosphere generally speaking. Away fans and tourists getting too many tickets. Need to get in Park Lane ASAP!

It’s always over dramatic on here?
Not a glowing endorsement of the exchange then. Probably all factors in at the end of the day. Never mind.

Fingers crossed on the move though.

I think I'll sell my internet ticket, I'll do it next match day and see if I can make a few quid, reckon there is someone somewhere who wants to pay for the privledge for a good moan on a Wednesday night in the Cup ;)

My thoughts:
  • I think Levy was right to sack Poch and we'd be in a relegation battle if he'd stayed on as the players were not playing for him.
  • I think that Mourinho cannot really be fairly judged until he has had a full summer to shape and train the squad to suit his philosophy.
  • I do have serious doubts that Mourinho will be successful with us for a number of reasons:
    • I believe football managers have a decade at the very top* before football moves on. Mourinho's decade was 2004 - 2014.
    • I do not think Levy will spend the money on the experienced players Jose undoubtedly will want as they will not have sell on value: e.g.
      • A dominant / leader CB aged 28-30 (e.g. Koulibaly (29 this summer) for £90M).
      • A world class DCM (e.g. Kante (29 this summer) for £80M).
      • An athletic and physically dominant target man in the image of Drogba (Victor Osimhen (22 this summer) for £60M).
  • I think investing in a younger manager who is in the ascendency (like Nagelsmann) would be a better, long term move.

*Fergie being the exception.

‘mentality mistakes’ according to Jose.

looks more to do with quality and set-up to me.
No, he's right. Players flying out to tackle players when they needed to stand up, players backing off when they needed to face up and force in another direction, players making stupid decisions when crossing into the penalty area. It doesn't matter what the set up is, if players can't do the intelligent things it'll break everything.

Today we were actually better attacking and moving the ball, thought we got at them and created chances (up until wolves scored the 3rd) but obviously got ripped open defensively. If Jose had set us up with a low block, then it's a guarantee we'd have struggled and probably lost and people would still be laying in to him.

Jose Mourinho's dour approach = 25 trophies won

Pochettinos "you just have to believe" approach = 0 trophies won

It's a transitional moment, most are usually a slog so why not suck it up and remember that it's just a game and enjoy it for what it is? Your football club playing football
But it's not enjoyable for what it is, is it?

Not if we buy the right players. Everyone at the club knows we need a DM, another striker, fullbacks, etc. If the scouting setup does its job properly and identifies the right players in those areas (massive if) then even it is the case that Jose is past it and we need to go in a different direction, we'll still be set up well for the future.
Very true and I very much hope this happens

This isn't so much the story of Jose as it is the story of Spurs the last 2-3 years. We have no other real goal threats so when they're both out it shows.

I'm very much Levy/ENIC in, but this is the one area where the lack of investment is calamitous and killing us.

Why would people care about the atmosphere when selling there ticket? Most people only care about how much money they get and who can blame them. I bet levy and lewis don't care about the atmosphere when they are pricing working class people out of going to games. Tourists are willing to pony up becasue its usually a one time thing

maybe you have a point re: quality/mentality.

agree with you about attacking. didn’t think the performance today was too bad. would have expected Jose to tighten up the defence by now.

I agree and now we don't even have Eriksen to get a goal from set piece anymore, I really have problem seeing how we can line up effectively with players available and guess any given manager would have same problem.
