Youre right, all that is true but I hear this alot that this is the price for trophies.... is it? Since when was cowardice or ultra defensive and dull football and winning trophies become mutually exclusive? It isnt.

Look at Liverpool - we really need to look at and follow Liverpool as a perfect example... and I absolutely despise them with all my strength but they were very much like us who even started at a lower base as us (werent we ahead of them in terms of our development, i mean we hammered them 4-1 and could have been 7-2 by the end) - they have won the CL and the PL without having spent a tonne... they sold Coutinho to fund the two main purchases needed... i wouldnt sell Kane but we have a lot of dross we can sell for a good few quid.... give it to the new manager and lets fucking get going...

Took Klopp a fair few transfer windows and years to get them to where they are now. I still believe, though I am sure I'm in the minority, with the same amount of time and backing to cut away the deadwood and get the right kind of players - mentally as well as skill wise - that Jose will get us there.

I'm cool about it too. The toxic nature of the threads are a bit off-putting at times though.

Haha. Didn’t even wait for me to say I disliked calling our team « a bunch of losers ». Nothing to do with him. Touchy touchy
It's just all getting a bit heated at the moment. Thing is that we all want the same destination, it's just that people have preferred route maps to get there. Daniel Levy has the sat nav but won't tell anyone which route he is taking.

The problem is you might belive a couple of windows time he may build a great squad in his image that has a chance of Winning. But the football is so bad to watch even if we do Win

The thing is there was a clear identity from Klopp from the very first game. It was there to see for everyone, not just Pool fans. They had some defensive issues to resolve which they did with VDV and Allison but they were very good going forward and a clear style of play and it was attractive. Jose has been here well over a year now and there has been absolutely no progression. We've beaten a couple of farmer teams in the cups, but honestly, is that anything to write home about? The one decent side we beat so far was Chelsea who we scraped through on penalties. I don't see us beating any other top sides in the cups. Who would be shocked if we went out to Everton in the FA Cup and City in the league cup?

There is no way cup runs can compensate for such side league results and performances. We should only give the manager time if we feel he's the right man for the job AND he's making improvements, however incremental. There has been none of that under Jose, we are as bad now as we were when he arrived. Arguably we are worse. No style of play other than give the ball to Son and Kane and hope for the best. Who remembers the lopsided formation he wanted to play with Doherty on the right and Davies tucked in on the left. It was really obvious he was a Jose signing too, he should be sacked for that alone!

If we were winning every match, ruthlessly by a goal or two I couldn't personally give two shits what the football was like. After a trophy or two I might get more choosy.

I was all for him coming in, I thought he’d changed his style after some time away. I used to race home to watch us from work every game. Last night I came in around 8.30, got a score update notification on my phone for their goal. Came in the house and the mrs had the game on the telly for me, I just turned it off right away. I’ve followed us for years and years at the age of 42 I can say this was one of the first times it’s happened. I don’t like the style we are playing at all, don’t get me wrong the players also have to share some of the blame and the chairman most certainly does as well! At least before we used to have a go at teams, that I could live with if the better team won, now we just set up and hope for the best inviting teams to attack our week spots. It’s horrible to watch

Its big part for me when people aren't aiming blame at the players
I agree but ultimately as we now know it’s the manager who becomes the scapegoat when results don’t happen. Even being diplomatic it’s hard to argue that Josè is doing a good job. I’m not saying the results would be much different if we binned him and brought in the next manager. I just feel a lot of the unrest is that the quality of football has been painful to watch. The players are not performing and I strongly believe that it’s a direct result of the rigid uncompromising style Josè makes us play. Players are overprotected and rarely held to account but that’s been the case for a while and it ain’t changing anytime soon.

Whether you’re pro or anti Jose... one thing is clear reading through the forums; he is incredibly divisive and polarising. That can’t be a good thing.

FWIW... I feared it wouldn’t work, no matter if he did win a cup; was hoping to be wrong but I remember the George Graham years.

Should he be fired (I cannot see a different outcome TBH) I hold out hope that whilst the players are not blameless they will improve dramatically... the evidence for such hope?

Manu Utd won 10 on the spin when they fired him and brought in, let’s be honest, an over promoted PE teacher as caretaker...

The season isn’t lost... yet... but something needs to change quickly!

Final point; Despite my personal perspective I’ll be cheering them on loud as ever against WBA.

COYS!

So then it begs the question and one I haven't thought about asking since Sherwood was in charge.....do we want us to lose?

I don't want to lose. I never do. One thing I definitely don't want is to pay Mourinho off for doing such an appalling job. He's had 15m off us and is probably due another 20. Fuck that. He's ticked just about every box off my list of concerns apart from spending a fortune on players and he needs to sort this shit out. I don't know if he can but if he can't he fleeced us good and proper.

Poch got sacked after we started the season with 14 points from 12 games.

Jose is on a run of 13 points from 12 games.
