You don't get it.
I'm just taking the piss. I don't think he'd take it either.
You don't get it.
The two worst job Rodgers could take at the moment,
are England and Chelsea. He'll need time and absolute free hands to
make those teams his own. Time are not given in those two jobs,
and his career might be dead before it's even started.
I laugh at the suggestion that England would suddenly play like Swansea (Barcelona) if Rodgers is appointed due to the higher quality of players in the England squad.
Some old fool mentioned this on Sunday Supplement as well.
When Rodgers look for a new player he look for players with the right attitude and playing style to fit his team. A key part for him is that it's a hungry player that is willing to listen and learn. Does this sound like Terry, Lampard, Gerrard etc.? Even Rooney? When Rodgers needed a goal keeper, he didn't care about the size thought to be needed in the Premier League - in stead he went for a shorty that are good with the ball at his feet, so that his team would be able to play possesion play even from the back. Wouldn't surprise me if the next step in his team building will involve using midfielder in defence, like we've seen at Barcelona already. Huddlestone to take Terry's place?
There will be a lot of question asked about Rodgers decisions if he's made the next England boss, the pressure will be immense when the results aren't instant.
Will he hold onto his philosophy or must he adjust to the demands of veteran players and the press? Doomed to fail.
Exactly.
This is why some fools think that appointing Wenger will have the same effect.
A team only adopts a certain a style of play by either having players who have all been coached in a particular way since youth. Or if a manager instills his philosophy by coaching a team what he wants them to do in a match during every single session.
I believe that the reason the Spanish and Brazillian players play the style they do is because they have been coached the way since youth. At international level it is almost impossible to instill a holistic philosopy as you spend so little time with the players and the squad is constantly changind due to 'injuries'. Therefore the team adopts a style which is almost a default to how they have been developed since youth. This is why England play such sh*t cave man football.
If Capello was in charge of Spain they wouldn't start playing boring football that he apparently had england playing. Similar to if Wenger or Rodgers took over England they wouldn't start playing intelligent, possession based football.
It is all about the players at international level and very little about the manager.
brooking seems like a right hanger-on. like when they did the press conference after fabio left, 4 of them sitting there for half an hour and good ol' trev said absolutely nothing.
If there is any truth in this Rodgers would be mad to consider it, way too young to consider such a role with such a promising career in front of him. FFS he's only 39!
lol hes from Carnlough about 15 minutes from Broughshane. Small world, Broughshane is tiny, like just a street.
I love Broughshane....the Thatch :hump:
NOM NOM NOM :beer::beer:
What's the Thatch?
What's the Thatch?
Yep. Never really got the regard for this guy. He's pretty arrogant with seemingly little reason to be. Can't remember him ever getting anything right. Feels strange to be saying that out loud actually. Always had to keep mum about these things on coys (still managed to get chopped in the end though, lol)
I personally think Rodgers would be the ideal person to rebuild the national team. IMO the job needs someone young, new ideas, someone looking to build.
If it meant we kept Harry then it'd be the best of both worlds.
Good on Trevor Brooking for pushing for a different ideology to the same old short termish rubbish of a recruitment process
So,you want new ideas for England but you are happy enough with the same old crap for Spurs?
I can't believe stemark44 got Santa involved. It's April ffs!
