I'm going on a hunger strike until Leandro signs.

Great idea. In fact, get Thudd in on the act. I don't know which is more realistic, us signing Leandro or Hudd ever getting to cut his barnet off. :cautious:

Has anyone watched Leandro play before? It seems like a huge fee for this player. How risky is this going to be? We'll be breaking our transfer record for this striker. Which teams in the top 6 would he get in? As you can see I'm a worrier when it comes to big fees!

He is worth what we will pay........the guy is class......the question is really.....is he worth the wait? Hang around Damiao again and we risk other targets disappearing.

He will be a brilliant signing.

Its just its taken so long this saga that people are actually fed up and kind of lost some excitement over the potential signing.

I for one still carry out plenty of excitemet for this potential transfer. Just really hope it goes through very soon.

I'm not 100% sure but I think we might have scouts who are employed to do this kind of thing...

Just came across a really good article about Damiao. May be of use to some of the members who don't know too much about him. It certainly helped me!! http://www.footysays.co.uk/have-you...eandro-damiao-internacional-by-nchurch44.html

Then there was this one that I came across. I've seen many people saying they'd prefer us to go for Benteke, rather than Damiao. All I can say to that is, read this - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...s-leandro-damiao-and-villas-christian-benteke

And this gets a "WTF" rating, why? PMS ... Fucking hell I was just trying to share some info with people who don't know too much about a player we've been linked with for 375 years!! :banghead:

What did Grey Fox say today? That if Leandro isn't done in a couple weeks it won't happen? Sounds good to me, give them a take-it-or-leave-it offer, no faffing about, and if they say no move for Soldado and Rodrigo and leave him to rot in the jungle.

Sure no problem, any chance you could let us know your address and which bank you deposit your money in, just for research purposes of course ;)

Both those articles are a bit light on substance and actual corroborative evidence (bar a bicycle kick and clever flick over youtubes) I have watched Leandro several times now and I wouldn't say his hold up play was exceptional or even "very good". It's OK, not more. To be fair, the games I've seen him in have all been difficult ones against tough opposition. But what I would say is, he is a genuine No.9. He has presence in the box and seems to have a knack of being where good No.9's should be and has better technique than someone like Bent for example.

The player Leandro reminds me most of is a raw Shearer.

I find myself leaning more toward Leandro than Benteke. Leandro seems to those alley cat instincts, and slightly better technique (and by that I mean in the finish as well as elsewhere). But let's be honest, both would be an upgrade on the likes of Defoe and Dempsey.

It also depends on what AVB wants to do regarding system, use of wide players, Bale etc...

If Damiao is like you suggest a pure no9 goalscorer (I have never seen the guy play) then you're going to need supply, maybe 4-2-3-1 so you give him a no10 to play off him and it may also define what we want from our wide players - Lennon is the obvious question here because he supplies better than he scores.

If we went after a Benteke type, an enabling CF who brings others into the play and acts as your focal point then you'll need your wide players who can score goals, particularly if we change to AVBs preferred 4-3-3.

A front three then of Villa, Bale and Benteke should do it....... I can but dream

I actually think Damiao could play both systems, the same way Falcao played No.9 in AVB/Porto's 433.

I think Damiao offers something very different to what we have. I think Benteke is a poor mans (on form) Adebayor - he's a bit more "in box poacher" than Adebayor, but much less "out of box player".

So I'd be happy to keep Adebayor, buy Damiao and sell Defoe. And use two of the development strikers like Kane, Obika, Colthirst etc.
