Thats right, he's not good enough to play as a wing back. If we were playing 4 at the back he'd be ok, not a world beater, but ok. Imo of course. Still not good enough for a team looking at top 4 regardless. Like most of Hitchns buys, he was a gamble.

Well yes to a certain extent every signing is a gamble. Even if they fit the dynamic and are good enough if they aren't happy at the club or with the area, culture then you can get a shit player.
Problem with Emerson is he doesn't fit the style we play at all and I dint think he's actually very good anyway.
A step up or equal quality to Walker or Trippier he is not. Not even close. But we gambled hoping he might be.
When youre a top 4team, had cl final and chasing a title you dont replace your starting 11 with 'hope' he may get better. Certainly not in 8 positions of the pitch (basically everyone except Lloris, Son and Kane).
