He actually says he's staying in the video.

Mods, do we really need two Holtby threads?

I didn't catch that if he did. Basically defending himself against a fan - that he's human too so liable to make a mistake, he's been injured and coming back, he cares, tries and trains hard for HSV, he is there and gives all for them to get out of the situation they are in.

For what it is worth - I think we could have done with him here this season. Hopefully he comes back for next year's squad.

Holtby clearly wants to play every week and has no intention of fighting it out for a place. He's jumped at the chance to go out on loan twice. I don't think the club has done much wrong with this one.

Anyone here follow Hamburg this season? I know Hamburg is poor, but is that the reason why Holtby has only 1 assist and no goals this season?

Have watched just about every game this season, and it's mostly because the team as a whole is just utter tripe, but also because Holtby is mostly played out of position (has played on the wings a lot,). The team as a whole has scored 16 goals total in 28 matches, which is 2nd worst in Bundesliga history (which goes all the way back to 1964), and I believe 4 or 5 of those are from the PK spot. Also keep in mind that Holtby missed the beginning of February until his first start this past weekend.

Holtby IMO has played well. He can end this season with his head held high. It's players like Muller and Lasogga who should be very ashamed for their poor output, and of course the board for some horrendous transfer decisions (such as Lasogga, and selling off all their actual central midfielders in two windows). But Holtby has done well, been proud while watching him.

Do you think loaning out Tah was a stupid decision or do you think he wouldn't have made a difference?

I think it was for the best, especially as Hamburg looks likely to go down. Djorou will probably be sold, and Tah can step in naturally and have much more confidence. I don't think he would have made the difference, as in truth the real problem was offensively. Going into the winter break, Hamburg had the fifth best defense in the league, they just weren't scoring enough. Now, as the season's worn on them, they aren't scoring and they're not keeping them out, hence why they've slid down firmly into the relegation slots.

Is it just the finishing or are they failing to create chances?

Create chances. They hold no possession whatsoever near the opponent's box. They'll break occasionally, make one or two hopeful passes, and lose the ball. Is pathetic really. Terrible midfield choices after terrible midfield transfer decisions. Behrami is alright, but he's a sitter. When Holtby doesn't play there, and now that they sold Arslan in the winter window, they have no one who can hold on to the ball and drive the team forward.

Sounds like they miss Badelj and Calhanoglu. How Green been when he has played? I'm surprised they haven't played him more seen as they have been shit in attack.

Calhanoglu absolutely, what a player that dude is. Badelj was good, but he was very slow. Cal and Rafa could hold possession and work off Lasogga very well. With Arslan, they at least had some energy centrally, and they should have kept Skjelbred for his passing ability if they were going to sell Badelj. Why the coach didn't like him is utterly beyond me. Only reason I can think of is because he was jealous of Skjelbred's stunningly good looks.

The problem with Green is that they promoted their reserves coach after firing the first coach, and so of course he preferred his own academy players which he knew well to one of Bayern's youth. Green was a strange move, they should have done something like go for Daehli if they wanted a promising youth on loan.

Shock horror, a player wants to.... well play..... he's on big money, I dare say the club are pushing the loan option very hard each window.

Id love a few others to show similar interest in their own career rather than sucking wages out of the club each week for zero contribution. Adebayor, Kaboul etc.

So, what does he say? Rough translation? What's he ranting about?
Well, if I get it correctly, (there is a lot of noise), he feels that, yes he might have an off game, but he has also proven himself as a good player, too. Now, he is fighting his way back after an injury, and he is standing there (in front of them), working his ass off, trying to avoid relegation. Something like that.

If he was actually saying "I'm staying" (not I'm standing), as in remaining w/ Hamburg after this season, I do believe he would have used other German verbs than those he actually used.

'Have watched just about every game'..... are you mad!? Show some respect to your own mental health and stop....

I say that in jest really as my team Stuttgart are equally punishing to support. You probably don't want to hear it but I actually think Stuttgart will stay up... which would obviously be particularly bad news for Hamburg.

Think it's roughly...

"I'll stay here, too.
Yes, I'll stay.
I don't want the club to be relegated.
I'm telling you now: 'Yes, I want to work my ass off!'
I'm in training every day, come and see what I do!
I'm trying to get out of this mess. I am also just a human! You know?
I've played well, I've played great, too.
I don't know either. I have been injured.
I'm trying to fight my way back in."

I agree, I think it'll be Hamburg and Paderborn as the two automatics, and my pick is Hannover in the playoff spot. Hannover has a tough run-in, with only one more outright winnable game left, and they're sliding hard.

Hannover are falling apart and their draw kills them. I don't think Mainz are in the clear either, just like Stuttgart and to some extent Hamburg and Freiburg they have a few 6 pointers left in their draw

Stuttgart still have Freiburg, Mainz, Paderborn and Hamburg - 4 of the bottom 5 teams and have no games V top 4. If they cant get out of that then they deserve to disappear without a trace.

Could be a fascinating last few rounds.
