Don’t understand why going to Chelsea will piss spurs fans off. If we don’t want him then why the fuck can’t he go to Chelsea. The fact we aren’t going for him and he may end up at Chelsea is just really fucking frustrating and no doubt will come back to bite us in the arse. Watch us fuck it up with options 1-6 and end up with Rogers.
It won't piss me off it will HURT, I can't blame him though... because he is currently available and is seemingly good enough for Chelsea but not for us.

He will be successful there. Poch was our best manager in the PL era.... all the obstacles in his way and consistently had us in Europe and competing....

I don't think I'll be able to watch a Chelsea game or them against us... unbearable. I pray we get someone decent.

This is a massive gamble by Levy if he lets Poch go to Chavs and we end up with someone unproven in the PL.
I agree that Poch going to Chelsea would really muddy the waters.

Suddenly everything the new manager does will be instantly compared to Poch. If Poch does well at Chelsea Levy looks like an absolute idiot and if Levy fails at Chelsea he looks like a genius. Either way the yardstick against which our new manager is measured is outside of our control and we basically have to pray that Boehly & co fuck it up again.

I think it would be a big mistake to appoint Poch simply to stop him going to Chelsea, though. If he's not the guy the board believe in or want, for whatever reason, they should stick to their guns. If there's no conviction behind their managerial appointment and it's done simply to appease the fans then it's destined to fail regardless.

As for the next manager being uproven a risk: most successful appointments outside of the very elite clubs are big risks, including us bringing in Poch in the first place.

Just a reminder to not put these people on a pedestal because they don't give a shit at the end of the day.

It's why Bill Nic is the only person I'd consider honouring in my life ( tattoo, child's name , stuff like that) because the rest would absolutely consider going to a rival. And bill Nic if he was here would laugh at me if I did such a thing.

In Pochs head we don't want him and we keep having ex Chavs as manager so why not? It's a horrible thought that our one manager who united us in modern times will go there but at least it lets us moves on and gives us a chance to unite behind who becomes out manager to beat them.

If he wins even a single League Cup then he'll have won more with them than he did with us. And yes, they will sing about it.

We could easily have given him the job as caretaker till the end of the season and seen if the vibe was good before letting all parties decide how best to move forward in the summer

We need to, as a fanbase, get over Poch.
I think the only positive about him going to Chelsea will mean that, as a fanbase, we'll have no choice but to move on.

The constant singing his name at games and #PochBack stuff on Twitter isn't very healthy IMO. Means that, even if he did come back, he'd probably be seen as a failure as the fan expectations and hype would be stupidly high.

Historically, ex Chelsea managers end up with us.

Give it a few years and we’ll have him back in our arms.

With Chelsea’s budget, be curious to see if he’s allowed to identify players solo and if so who they are - one of the question marks I’d have against him is that his identification of the players he wants to buy.

Of course he won’t. Chelsea buy the players that Boehly gets in his Match Attax cards that week.

If Poch does go to Chelsea I can't help but feel it is going to end in tears as it did at PSG and for similar reasons.

I think Boehlys insistence on entering the dressing room with his cronies and kids at half time in games makes it a recipe for disaster. Wont be long before Boehly starts picking the team lol

Think Poch would do fine at Chelsea but he won't get them to where they want to be. I think his high press was hugely effective 7-8 years ago when we had a really talented young squad and not too many teams were doing it.

Now over half the teams in the league press pretty high and I've not really seen Poch really do anything especially innovative tactically since we had a great season playing a back 3 back in 16-17. I think tactically he's actually got worse since then as he's got further away from his early principles - hence by 18-19 we were experimenting with diamonds, barely pressing, etc. He had a tough hand at PSG but their fans were often utterly bemused by some of his line-ups and tactical choices.

He's a great man manager, motivator and will certainly do a decent job wherever he goes, but personally I think he's already peaked and will never get close to teams managed by the likes of Pep, Klopp, who are better at adapting tactically as the game moves on.

Hope they get relegated every season, but really hope they get relegated if Poch goes there.

Should put any thoughts of a return to Spurs to bed though.

Lots of folks sound pretty upset when Poch is included in the 'next manager watch' thread. No real arguments against him, just urging to stop including him and move over here.

Over here seems to have a lot of that 'emotion' the anti-Poch folks mention often. Of course, the anti-Poch folks are projecting all their emotion too rather than making a case against him. Fact is, Poch is easily comparable to Naglesmann and Slot and should be well within our reach if we had a hierarchy that had any sort of vision or clue.

Anyway, if Poch goes to Chelsea I'll certainly watch them with more interest and be interested in how he gets on over there. They have similar hierarchy issues to us, so it's not a forgone conclusion that he'd succeed there. But if they let him hold the reins, I've no doubt he'll do very well and they'll be a good watch. Their main issues are trimming the squad and adding proper forwards. Maybe Lukaku would find a way back in a different system with him as the focal point up top. You could see Poch wanting to keep Mount and trying to move Ziyech, Pulisic, Sterling, Aubameyang and others out. The clear out there is quite starkly needed. If they balance out, mainly with outgoings, they'll surely rise up the table again.
