Levy will 1000% get a twitchy trigger finger on deadline day and go in one last time. He can’t help himself, he loves the deadline day deal.

Not saying I think it will be successful, but all those journos saying he won’t go back in clearly don’t know how this man operates.

Its posturing mate.

You need to sit outside a cafe James Richardson style in order to unlock its secrets.
As far as I’m concerned the greatest football highlights show there ever was, with him as the best presenter of such shows. Only Des (old school pre ITV version) provided a similarly on point balance between credibility and humour, but just wasn’t as likeable.

Definitely (as Defoe would say).

If its a budget issue I'm surprised we're not sniffing around Kabak from Schalke... Rumors AC Milan are in for him and he's highly rated & would definitely be cheaper than Skriniar. I think our CBs could very much keep us from silverware.

Not really the thread for it but does anyone know of any academy centre backs that are looking good at present , perhaps catching Jose's eye and making him less concerned about letting other defenders leave ? Was always under the impression that Tanganga was never really the cream of the Centre Back crop , but obviously he caught the managers eye & the rest is history.
Malachi Walcott made his debut off the bench for us in the CL last season under Jose but is currently injured I think, we lost Binks to Montreal, and is now moving on to Bologna, last season who I think was rated as our best academy CB

Looking at our rivals centre backs, I’m really not that desperate for this to happen, albeit I’d rather it did. Laporte, Van Dyke and maybe Gomez are the only ones I think would be nailed on starters for us. Nobody at any of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd or Leicester. Ruben Dias may well join that list but let’s see how he adapts before assuming he’s the new messiah and not just a very naughty boy. As long as the set up in front of our centre backs works as a unit and does it’s job, we’re strong enough there.

Well going by our new signings we're intending to play with wingbacks and three forwards. Given that there is only one DM in the entire squad I'd kinda hope our CB's can defends pretty fucking well. Otherwise this season will be...let's just say exciting. "Ah yes, a classic Mourinho 8-7 win"

I’m not sure your opinion on soyuncu, but I think he’s a top defender who’d start for us. Also I really liked Leicester’s other cb new signing fofana when watching ligue 1, but like Dias, we’ll have to wait and see. Like you said, I wouldn’t be losing any sleep if we didn’t get skriniar, as we saw at the back end of last season, Jose 100% knows how to get a team organized and tough to break down regardless of the personnel on the pitch.

For this season in the EL and domestics I think that Toby, Eric, Sanchez and Japhet is fine. But I think another class centre back may give us the platform to challenge at the top of the league. I would assume this would be the area we would next invest in.
someone made the point about our academy CB. I think Binks and Walcott were More highly rated but I think most of us were super impressed with Japhet’s first few games in a Sours shirt - I really hope he can recapture that and develop.
