Unless there has in fact been an injection of cash, there’s almost no chance of signing Skriniar/Dias & Vinicius/Milik/Weghorst.
I would love to hear detailed clarifications on this after the window. Is amazing we can be talking about 40-50 million signings even after signing 5 players. ??

Think Son already finished the weeks long training back in around May; he was first of second of that class IIRC.

Here’s his PES 2021 rating. Suggests he’s a brilliant defender, average on the ball and not particularly quick.

Skriniar or Dias would be ideal and with a striker as well it’d be nearing the perfect window
Nearing I'd agree.

But imo the perfect squad would also include a proper number 6 and another creator.

Making the likes of Sissoko/Fernandes, Lamela, Foyth, Rose and even Moura dispensible.

Big ask to do that in one window.

Inter has been interested in Kanté, and if they still are, after just signing Vidal - offer them Sissoko!

If we’re playing a low to middle-block, Skriniar is a very good defender. Commanding in the box and very good when the game is played in front of him.

Skriniar or Dias would be very good necessary business.
I honestly would be very disappointed if we end up with Kim. Never seen him play but it does not feel that he is what we need at the moment

Skriniar is the one I want. Not the quickest, and against top teams we’ll defend very deep, but he’s a proper grizzly centre back who really knows how to defend.

I don't get why he'd be out of favour at Inter? Seems like the perfect Serie A defender.

The one thing I would say about Skriniar is that he has apparently struggled in Conte's back 3 and thats one of the reasons he doesn't play much anymore.

When we signed Doherty and then added Reguilon, there was a school of thought that we might be looking to go to a back 3 with those two as wing backs - as it clearly suits both of their games to play that role, particularly Doherty. If we do sign Skriniar though, it seems unlikely we would be playing a back 3.

He is class though, particulary in a back 4. Brilliant defender.

Think it's more a case of inter recognising now is the time to sell a highly valued player. Probably looking at likes of koulibaly at Napoli (and us for a number of players) who should of been moved on at least a season ago but are now struggling to command a fee anywhere near they previously would've got and so want to move him on now and use that cash to buy the Fiorentina defender with change left over.

One thing that struck me about him on the clips I’ve seen is his ability to read the game. Sure, he appears very aggressive, in that Stam style, but also has a ‘get in early, acquire the ball and move it on quickly’ ability that is able to turn defence into counter attack. And, to allow him to do all of this, he has something I tend to think is more important in a CB than raw pace, and that’s anticipation. He always seemed half a metre quicker to the ball, or the space/angles around the ball than the attacker receiving it. Clips can be misleading, but I was very impressed with what I saw. And if we could do a swap loan with Dele, then we could hopefully have a look at him with no financial stress.

With the potential for there not to be any fans in before Christmas, I wonder if that will have an impact on transfers. No cash coming in must effect things transfer wise. I’m sure levy being the guy he is will hopefully of priced the potential for this into his transfer dealings. But spending this much on a player now, with the lack of that income could well not happen. Unless of course we are expecting to get a large sum in from outgoings, which seem non existent so far.

We are very bad in air and at set piece defending, KMJ, Dias, Škriniar are similar types and it's a good sign that coaching/scouting recognize our weaknesses.

Exciting news this. Another player with presence and aggression.

I'm not sure we need to move to a back 3.
Liverpool get away with a 4. You'd think we would have to play Sanchez for pace if we stick to a 4 and let the DM slot in to the backline when necessary.
I'm not convinced about the high-line approach though, certainly not at the moment when we haven't got a settled back line.
