We seem to be linked with a new keeper every other day, so thought it might be useful to keep the chat in one place. I can add a poll if people can help compile a list of all linked so far.

latest is AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan.

I'd like Kelleher from Liverpool, potential to be a brilliant number 1 for 10 plus years. Homegrown, excellent shop stopper, calm, comfortable with the ball at his feet, looks a good penalty stopper to. The only thing i am not sure about is how well he organizes those in front of him but thats just because we haven't seen enough of him.

Alban Lafont from Nantes looks a good prospect to me but I haven't seen much of him at all. Anyone seen him play? Would he be a good fit for us?

Homegrown options would be great for us,Pickford, Dean Henderson or David Raya
Pickford signed a new long term contract with Everton last month.

I think Raya makes so much sense for everyone involved. The big teams in Spain and England all have better goalkeeper situations than we do. Similar to the signing of Bissouma last summer, having a year left on his contract should cut a sizeable chunk out of the transfer fee as well.

Agreed. Seen some saying he’s too short and not great with his feet though (close control)

Like others have said there’s a lot of HG options we should have at the top of the list before we think about Maignan. Don’t get me wrong he’d be a decent choice, but having a HG keeper frees up space elsewhere. It’s a settled position and it kind of makes that the situation going forward for some time.

Raya or Pickford for me. Pickford signed a new deal but I bet there’s clauses. Raya coming up to the end of his deal next year. There’s deals to be done there.

Emi Martinez counts as Homegrown aswell.

If Enrique comes in, then Raya is a near cert.

I think he's a great keeper but doubt he'd move....seems very settled there

Doesn't Dean Henderson want out of Man Utd? If so, I'd have him on my list. HG makes loads of sense.

Raya would be my first choice closely followed by Martinez
I’d imagine maignan would cost a lot to prise out of Milan (perhaps as much as Martinez, who knows?) but he’s impressive. I think lafont looks better than meslier (whose highly rated by some)
The other wildcard pick is the Georgian keeper at Valencia
Weren’t we linked with a Turkish keeper too?

Sanchez is crap, we'd be crazy to go anywhere near him. Brighton are in a similar situation to us, in that their big name keeper has been replaced by an understudy that no one rated, and have immediately looked more solid.

Martinez is hugely overrated IMO, the idea that he's now one of the best keepers in the world is ridiculous, I'd say he might just about scrape the top ten in the Premier League. His reputation is based on a decent (but overstated) World Cup and some notable meme behaviour, we'd be paying £50m+ for a cross between Jimmy Bullard and Hasan Sas.

In terms of keepers with PL experience, Raya would be the obvious choice but (career history notwithstanding) Leno is another excellent keeper, and Sa at Wolves is really good too. I actually think Bazunu at Southampton could be really good, but it's way too early for him - if Southampton went down, a buy and loan back for a year would be a great move in the long term and give us scope to sign an experienced transition option until he's ready.

Pickford is bound to have a release clause in his new deal, and if they do go down I suspect he would be the one we'd go for. He's struggled to shake off his reputation as a loose cannon but the reality is he's been very good for club and country for a good two or three years now.

Outside of the PL, I really like Onana but it seems like he's come through whatever problems he was having at Inter for the first six months or so, so he might not be an option any more. Sevilla's Bounou (who, unlike Martinez, can back up a good World Cup with consistently excellent club form going back years) would be a good option, and I like Costa at Porto from what little I've seen of him. Maignan would be a brilliant buy but I can't see that happening, there are a few richer clubs than us in need of a top keeper and he'd be high on their list.

We wanted him years back but he chose Citeh IIRC.
