Since we are amid a Community meltdown due to our lack of strengthening I thought I'd ask is the new stadium worth it? This isn't a Levy thread by the way we seen Arsenal have the same budgeting problems. Since my last poll went so swimmingly I thought id try another one.

My view it is worth it, our comercial revenue and match day revenue is so far behind the bigger clubs this gap needed to be bridged. We have clearly been having a net spend in recent years all due to our stadium we just need to see it through. It seems a pretty obvious answer but some posters seem not to grasp that £800M won't be pulled simply from the air.

at the end of the day, until the new stadium is up and running we were never in a position to up our wage cap. the thing is once it's even paid for, we still won't be able to compete with Man U, due to their history and everything about them since the Munich disaster. Man C, or Chelsea unless their owners get fed up with their toy. We will though on the wages front be able to compete with Arse and Liverpool.

if we stayed in the old WHL we would never catch anyone above us up on the money list, once we catch them and increase the wages then hopefully we will start signing the players needed by the end of May, the only thing we have to hope is by then we are still competing, and still have a good few players of the players we have already still playing for us with some older looking manager on the touch line called Pochettino(y)

Is there a meltdown?

Melters gonna melt. I remember when we signed Darren Bent when we clearly spent all summer chasing Barry to play in defence.

Literally couldn't give a shit anymore. I'll be here next season, and probably until I die. Why get stressed

What's happening to us now is what happened to arsenal. Gonna lose alot more top players in the next few years before we come out on the other side with money to compete again.

Buying players isnot a guarentee of success, otherwise liverpool would have finished above us for the last few years. New players will need to be paid as well, which means that we would have to be successful or else they would leave because we can't afford their wages.
The new stadium will give us an extra £50m a year. This will hopefully help us buy better players and pay their wages. If we can be successful as well then we can push on.

a brand new stadium would increase the valuation of the club when ENIC/Joe Lewis & Co are negotiating a deal with potential buyers

I am hoping the new stadium will see Spurs change policy completely, almost overnight. Hope but don't expect.

'Doing it the right way', as some say, is a great ideal to have but the game has changed and wages is going to be the key factor. Hopefully this season is the only one of austerity before everything goes up a notch. At least most of the players are tied to long contracts, which keeps a lot of the power with the club, but then Walker going and Rose's interview suggests it's not as simple as that. Three weeks of the window to go to see if they strengthen (surely they will..) and whether it's enough.

100% yes. It should mean us secured as challenger for the long term.

Amazing how much of a reaction a mouthy player can have. Always be a bit wary of someone who describes themselves as opinionated. They are usually a bit of a wanker. Especially if, along with being very opinionated, they give exclusive interviews to the sun!

Some of the stuff Rose has come out with is embarrassing. 'It's not about money, I want to win trophies...I'm not paid what I think I'm worth'
Giving the fans stick isn't a great move either. Just a ploy to get his move. Thing is, United fans are already slagging him off 'not worth £50m', 'we can do much better than him' and he's yet to kick a ball for them, let alone have a brain fart, which he was doing twice a game before Poch turned up.

The new stadium is well worth it. As for our lack of strengthening i'm getting sick and tired of a majority of the supposed fans of spurs lately. There seems to be this huge obsession with signing a player, any player ,even bloody Andre Gray for nearly 19 million. It's a joke and look what happened last time we went out and signed a ton of players. It all went to crap, people need some perspective and also buying new players for the sake of it is pointless. It's basically like wanting a player for the sake of it, also comparing ourselves to Man City,Chelsea and Man Utd is also pointless as we are not a money bags team and at this current stage cannot attract a top top end player as they demand wages that are now way out of our league.

I'm sure a ton of people will disagree and whinge about no ambition but that's just crap. Spurs are in a great position , have ambition (just look at the new training area and ground being built) and have been doing amazingly well recently but that is due to the manager and Levy being smart. If we went out buying every player like some seem to want us to do and also pay the high end wages we would be bankrupt and in masses of debt.

What you need to realise is if we don’t build the stadium we never will be able to pay the big bucks, never.

No ifs, no buts, no coconuts
