Yeah, after all no other country in the modern world is guilty of committing human rights abuse is it!!!

I despise the Saudi regime more than most but reading some of the remarks in this thread does make me chuckle and shake my head In disbelief. As George Orwell so eloquently put it, spread hate and nonsense for long enough and you'll eventually have the (thick) masses believe you

the killing of one on another countrys soil clearly ordered by the prince was the final straw on what should of made them get declined anyway... the right decision was made. however psg and man citys owners should also of never been allowed to own a team either if soccer wasn't so corrupt.

In reply to Mornster of course I am aware that there is shady owners and shady dealings and I am prepared to turn a blind eye even to my own club being shady . The thing is being shady and not squeaky clean is a million miles from killing and cutting up the body and having the worst human rights record on the planet and then trying to join a league that for years you have been cheating out of revenue with pirate TV .
If you do not define the difference thats your choice but for myself and many others this is " a bridge too far " so to speak .
The fact remains that the premier league still allowed Man City and Chelsea to join them .
For their human rights record I would not have allowed the city take over .
Abramovich has gained his fortune by untold crimes which I won't go into now and they should also have been denied entry to the league .
If that makes me not knowing what planet I come from so be it but I am comfortable with trying to have some standards and ethics even if they are not the best .

Absolutely. That's the point really - people immediately want to say, look at so and so, they are hardly squeaky in business - look at Ashley himself - has he behaved in an ethical way towards his employees? The fact that he was called to appear before a committee at the Houses of Parliament would suggest not. However; has he been responsible for murdering anyone or locking them up because of their political views or been connected to the murder of a political opponent or in charge of a regime that treats women like second class citizens? Obviously not.

Don't know mate. Have you seen how depressed the staff in Sports Direct look? I reckon he has them building statues in his honour in the stock room out of the paper crap you get in shoe boxes.

What is the most astounding thing about this whole thing is that in the present climate regard racism and make no mistake these peoples exploitation of Asian workers is racism in the extreme . The good old Geordie boys are willing to ignore this fact as long as someone is bringing money into their club . It is shallow and hypocritical and self serving in the extreme . Very sad statement on society .

They'd be fine being owned by people who chop people's heads off in public as long as they gave them shiny new players. It's beyond sad really and shows how completely up themselves a lot of football supporters are.

I see the Newcastle fans have started a petition begging whoever will listen to let them suckle on the teet of a brutal despot.

Genuinely hope they go down this year now.

The problem they have is that not enough people will care outside of Newcastle and in fact the nature of football is such that actually rival fans would be relieved not to have another club competing in the premier League. If it became a kind of popular movement within football then it might cause the premier League a headache but not enough people will be bothered.

How about the rest of football followers starting a petition on why such owners should not be any where near football .
You can see with your own eyes how City owners are doing practically anything they like and sticking two fingers up to the Fa /Premior league / EUFA and in fact in their eyes rules were made to be broken and circumvented and I can only see them getting worse .

We were names as 2 of the teams opposed to it.
But there is no way that other clubs had the final say on this.

Am I wrong in thinking they should name all clubs opposed to the takeover or name no clubs ?.
This sort of thing feeds my paranoia I dont get why they should name just two clubs if there were more than two then name them or none .

Well the media do what they like don’t they. Maybe they had a source they were aware that Liverpool and us had objected. I live up here and know loads of Newcastle fans and none of them have said anything about Spurs or Liverpool. I don’t think that any of them think that the decision to draw out the process to such an extent had anything much to do with other clubs.

So the Geordie supporters have demanded that the people that delayed the takeover explain why .
Let me make a guess the murder of Koshiggi
Human rights record
premier league football TV pirating
The latest newsies that the man who sanctioned the death of Koshiggi has given the go ahead for another execution .
If that is not clear and obvious to the Geordie faithful then they are the saddest of sad people in sad land .

I’m not sure they can really call it a demand if they have zero leverage over anyone, it reminds me of this
