Another club who will sadly ruin their tradition. Please let us never go down this route. Really dumbs down achievement imo.

I agree but is it easy for us to say? With the success we've found ourselves in doing it the 'right' way.

I'm just trying to envision if I was a Newcastle fan. An incredibly shit owner, playing for nothing season after season and just trying not to relegated, other teams such as Wolves and Everton taking much further strides in terms of any sort of progression, only gonna get further away from being able to win anything with the rate at which other clubs are getting better etc.

I feel like if I was a Newcastle fan I'd be absolutely loving this.

Meh. We're rich too, have Champions League football, and the best stadium and training facilities in the world. They'll take a few years to reach a top level and when they do we'll be reaping the benefits of the new stadium.

Haha not a single player is going to join Newcastle over us.

That’s what every team was probably saying about Man City a decade ago

That all depends if our owners decide to put those benefits into the squad

To be honest, as shit as it could potentially be to have another team up with the top 6, at least we're currently amongst the best in the league and are established near the top.

Imagine what teams outside of the top six must be thinking, the bridge for them is far enough as it is.

Difference now is that City were truly in a league of their own. Not the case now. And in their first couple of years who truly chose City over another team? Tevez I guess - but that was dodgy as fuck.

And if we don't, our manager and all our best players will fuck off. So doesn't seem like a very palatable choice.

It won’t feel as good when they win anything for the rest of their life, they’ll know it deep down as I think many Chelsea and especially city fans do.

Maybe it’s easy for me to say. But if anything our blueprint proves you can do things properly.

Tradition of doing nothing?

I’m sure like city fans they’ll absolutely love it if they end up being successful ??
Not for me. Do it the proper way like Levy did. Sign younger players, sell them on. Put the money into the academy and facilities. It’s actually quite a simple formula imo it just requires common sense from the top.

No I get what you're saying to be honest mate and I feel relieved we haven't done it that way too. I just think with the state of the Premiership now and the way things are going plus what they've been through the last few years, they may just be thinking of it as win something, even if it is via a takeover, or achieve nothing or very little.

Winning that way is absolutely no different to not winning imo. Not for real fans anyway. They’ll know how it was done, just like City’s proper support know how it’s been achieved. Hollow

I’d be more worried if I was Arsenal especially if they win Europa. Serious chance they could get gobbled up by Leicester wolves Everton and now Newcastle. Actually always amazes me Mansour bought City with United on doorstep. Newcastle Leeds Villa even West Ham seem muvh better buys.

Why especially if they win Europa?

They're a bit like us. Big club with a huge fanbase, serial underperformers, ain't won fuck all in yonks, horrific history of mismanagement. We've done better than them trophy-wise historically, but there are parallels between our clubs. We've done things the right way the last 15-20 years to set us up for the future, they just got a windfall!

How do you feel about us reaching the CL final?

How would it feel if we'd had £500m worth of signings in the previous few Transfer windows before this week? Would the sense of shock and elation and awe and wonderment be anywhere near as powerful?

Fuck these owners.

They have just won the lottery but this was something FFP was supposed to eradicate from the game! Unfortunately Newcastle will now just follow the Man City blueprint and buy, buy, buy and then buy some more. I remember Man City being in a very similar position to Newcastle before they were bought out. My question would be, what would happen if every Premier League club corrupt oil billionaire's in charge trying to one-up the other, would the league implode much like we seen in Italy in the late 90s? Financial doping will eventually kill off real fans of the game! Just my opinion but who wants to see a sport that is supposedly set-up so you just can't spend Billions every season but make absolutely no money whatsoever? Once Roman Abramovich took over Chelsea and spent Billions but made absolutely no profit, not to mention his very very suspect business history in Russia. UEFA and the British Government sat back and done bugger all about it!!! Then out of nowhere the Government starts to asks questions about his business dealings after 15 years after the fact and only then refuses him a visa! As for City, dear God, they have been brazenly breaking UEFAs rules of FFP right in front of them for years and now they are just starting to ask questions!!! The bloody group that bought their stadium rights are the same owners of City. Fans of Clubs like Spurs are being made a joke out of, not only by UEFA but also the British government for allowing corporations that operate in countries with appalling human rights and some very questionable business interests!

It’s not like it’s a straight choice between CL without financial doping, or CL with it. For Newcastle the choice is between perpetual mediocrity under Ashley, or the hope that maybe their club will be the next Man City under the new ownership.

No real fan under would plump for honest mediocrity on those terms.

I kinda think Ashley already did that.

The fans don't like him, he already wanted to sell a couple of seasons back, just no one met his asking price.

I don't like this... Ashley was a joke, now imagine if they actually become a well-run club. they already have a good manager in Rafa, if the new owners back him, we might have another challenger on our hands.
