He has a very specific history of his teams crashing and burning at around the 3 year mark. It's not quite Jose or Conte because he isn't half as toxic as either of them but it's not exactly a good track record if the idea is to build something long-term.

Could sack him at the end of the second season as we all celebrate an FA Cup / Europa League double :cautious:

Clive Allen has talked on podcasts about Rodgers being his no.1 pick. I doubt he is saying that without some sort of info that Rodgers has a chance

Completely fucking inexcusable that we had no plans to succeed Conte AND Paratici, knowing full well that we would probably need to since bloody last year. Astounding incompetence. It's been said before, but I genuinely can't wrap my head around it.

He could definitely do the job of integrating youth, getting a new backbone for the team together and working as a cohesive unit, we may just win a cup or two and the football would be entertaining.

If we are running out of options or Levy has screwed us out of a few, he’s not the worst on the list IMO.

"During conversations with various sources over the last few weeks, a recurring theme has been the idea that #thfc are a manager’s graveyard.
It’s been suggested that some prospective head coaches have looked at that and been given pause for thought."

Christ this is grim.

The football world is a small one. No surprise that managers, agents and players all talk. We are a club in decline and have a board that don't have a fucking clue football wise. Any manager with options won't come to use, we will only attract mid range managers now so look forward to the likes of Rogers and fighting for 6th place at best.

Dave Hytner article https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/may/25/tottenham-arne-slot-rules-out-manager-job-feyenoord

“They include Rúben Amorim, whose contract at Sporting has a €15m (£13m) buyout clause this summer; Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou; Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton; and Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona and Spain manager. It is considered unlikely that De Zerbi would leave Brighton for Spurs”
Ange or Enrique for me.

Fully expecting Rodgers...

Thinking about it, Big B did have Leicester playing some not totally shit football once?

Ok I’m in, I’ll definitely take not totally shit after this year.

All aboard the BrendanBus

I actually know Clive and his family, great people but sorry to burst your bubble that will have just been his opinion in this case, I don't think he has close ties to the higher up's anymore.

I'd try and make a concerted effort to walk away if it's Rodgers

Just got a very strong Leicester team relegated, hated by fans of his last two jobs, slagged us off and throughaly unlikeable.

I think Glasner is the Nuno option , Rodgers is the nuclear war level disaster option.

  • Big Ange 8/10 would be very exciting but not quite as good as JN or Slot would've been
  • Amorim meh 6/10 choice could be ok but not that exciting
  • De Zerbi 9/10 but zero chance he leaves Brighton for us
  • L.Enrique 6/10 his teams play decentish football but I don't think he'd be a good fit for building a project with us, putting him on par with Amorim due to style of play being slightly better but think he’ll end up at PSG
My fear is still that it’ll be a way worse option than these something like Glasner, Galtier, Potter, Rodgers etc.

Don’t rule anything out.

If the scenario is as you paint it and our options are dwindling then I agree. However, if you'd told any of us two months ago that he would be anywhere near our top five then we'd all be seething. Regardless, I don't think there have been many credible links yet but if it comes to pass I hope we as a fanbase don't shift the goalposts to try and justify it; we need to collectively rid ourselves of this "it could be worse mentality" that exists in large pockets of the fanbase in my opinion.

TBF who hasn’t slagged us off the past few years? That list would be a lot smaller than you think :ROFLMAO:

On days like these, in times like this ... has it ever rung more true?

"There used to be a football club over there"

- Keith Burkinshaw (1984), the last Tottenham manager to win more than one trophy in his time with the club.

Yes, I know it was journalist Ken Jones (cousin of Spurs legend Cliff Jones) who used it to summarise Burkinshaw's feelings after their meeting and interview. But you guys know what I mean.

I will say Rodgers did superbly with Liverpool and Leicester for the first two years. His Swansea side were tremendous and he's often referred to as one of the best coaches around.

Is this me dealing with the inevitable?

Yes. Yes it is.

I'd take Rodgers over Glasner mate.

Glasner and Galtier are the 'Nuno' level options.

Rodgers is just slightly above them.
