We need an attacking manager, but not just anyone.
His teams are terrible at defending. I understand that having an attacking stance always comes at the expense of less solidity in defense, but the way he plays is just reckless and teams in the EPL will punish you a lot more.
Your username is very apt when it comes to these statements. Ardiles was a sweetheart but defending was not his strong suit either. We gave him Ossie a chance and we should give Aussie a chance too!

I'm going to be honest. This to me is a terrible signing and I truly hope it falls.
We need an attacking manager, but not just anyone.
Everything that I've seen from him makes me feel he's going to fail miserably.
It's clear that the gap with the Scottish league is huge, but that's not the main reason. His teams are terrible at defending. I understand that having an attacking stance always comes at the expense of less solidity in defense, but the way he plays is just reckless and teams in the EPL will punish you a lot more. Look at how he played against superior teams in the CL this season and the ending score of those games.

If he ends up being appointed, I'm not going to wish he fails, but I won't support him either. He will have to earn that with work and results
I know most people on this board like to support everyone from the start so I'll get several disagrees, but I it's that kind of attitude that allows Levy to keep doing what he does. We know what we need, but when it doesn't happen, everyone starts with the mental gymnastics to justify why the latest appointment is a good one. It happened with all the last mangers that were appointed. At some point I even read posts where people tried to explain that Gattuso was a good manager.
You are spot on and we will need very good defenders to compensate. Something the board must deliver if we are to have any chance.

Don't hold back. Bit confused as beginning you say I hope it fails then say I am not going to wish it fails!
Either way when the whistle goes for the first game we should only be wanting the win.
I read that too but looking again he said I hope it falls as in the appointment.

It's far too soon to say whether he gets support or not. Let's see what he actually does, first- actions not words. If he were to repeatedly pick Dier, Sanchez, Davies and it costs us points in the first few games he'd be dead to me. Pep would be!

But I'm going to believe he's marching the dead wood out the door until he doesn't!

This would be Levy / the board / DoF's fault – we've said it all along, whoever we appoint is going to need better. Particularly someone like Postecoglou, whose teams play out quickly from the back. We'll be fucked if we try to play his football with Dier and Sanchez anywhere near the first team. Romero should be fine...

No doubt if Ange was Italian or Spanish, supporters would be more agreeable. Just because Aussies have never really done anything over here we are more sceptical.
Viduka and Kewell excepted.
could be a roller coaster ride but I’m looking forward to it.
if Harry leaves you can almost guarantee we will win something. Spursy in the extreme.
still think he will stay.

I hope Mason is incorporated into his support staff. Seems like the sorta bloke who would welcome Mason into the tent, given his current relationship with the club and players. It will certainly make the new changes go smoother. Well done him. I love a good meritocracy story.
Are you Ben Elton? Just going by the name and the avatar? Doubleseatdoubleseatgottagetadoubleseat!

It’s so funny that an English coach has never even won the Premier League and yet we can still throw shade at someone for being Australian.

Considering Poch, JN and Slot were all there for the taking if the higher ups compromised one way or the other then ending up with Ange leaves me underwhelmed.

He'll get my full support but fingers crossed he turns out to be a Poch/Jol style appointment rather than a Nuno one.

It does rather suggest that Levy's not for changing.

If Nagelsmann and Slot saw that and backed away, here's hoping that if Postecoglou commits then he's able to work with Levy (and any DOF who may, at some point, employed by us too).

Our man will have a better way of dealing with Donna than Poch did

No, if Agne had taken a team like Hearts and won them the title, then I would be 100% onboard. Wouldn’t care about the standard of the league or his previous CV because it would be hugely impressive, his nationality isn’t important.

However we have gambled on someone that has achieved the norm, Celtic have won 5 trebles in 6 seasons.

While others find his shouting at players to be some new ingenious tactic, I find it to be dated and I don’t think top quality Premier League players will respond to it.

I don’t actively want him to fail, I hope he proves me and others wrong, but in the end its not even his fault, if we do fail then the blame has to be on Levy.

I'm excited for Ange!

That said I'm Australian, so quite familiar with him, been impressive wherever he has been.

Huge jump, and possibly too big a jump but this is the first manager since Poch Ive thought could be here 5+ years all things going well.

Got to be honest I've not seen hardly any of this on here, and in fact I think it's just becoming a generalisation thrown around at everyone who is not keen on him.

"Posted by Massive Horse Penis".

Excellent.
I'm in a silent office and you are killing me! I never even looked at the username, just read the post and I wondered what you were on about, just looked at it again and now I have tears in my eyes as I try not to laugh out loud.
