If we do go for Enrique, the board must be aware that we will require major investment in the squad. His philosophy is predicated on playing out from the back, and currently only Romero and Bentancur are at the required level at GK, CB and CM (Sarr as well if he ever plays)

If they hire Enrique and expect him to work with the squad he has then it will be an unmitigated disaster. Every manager will need to be backed to some degree, but Enrique more so looking at his ideals and the squad as currently constructed

we need a manager who can work with cheap and cheerful.

I still think Enrique is a terrible terrible choice. Pretty much anyone else on the Mokbel list would really excite me though.

Hoping Paratici doesn't get off on Wednesday so he can't choose the manager.

Enrique is the guy who I would like if Levy was getting out the big bucks and all the technical wizards where on their way. Levy will back Enrique with the Lenglet of technical players when he wanted the Bastoni’s.

I want a manager in the way up rather than one who has already achieved the very maximum he can.

Naglesmann may not fit that category because he has been at Bayern but he is so young I still think he will bring the exuberance and energy we need. I like him most though because he is so flexible tactically which is something we need due to our awful squad building. Going down the stubborn 'winner' route is another disaster waiting to happen.

Enrique might be the best possible appointment for many top clubs, but he seems such a wrong match for us and our situation. We need someone who can unite the club, can use much of players that are already here, and follow Levy's sustainability transfer policy. Club need to pull in the same direction again.

Don’t want Enrique purely for the reason that I’ve bet on every other f*cker except him.

:banghead:
Same 😅 him and Kompany are the only 2 I didn’t put money on while their odds were longer. I have been like Mush from ‘A Bronx Tale’ this season with my bets so you can guarantee it will be one of these 2 that we appoint

Enrique is massively underrated on here for some reason. Associated with short termism when there is nothing to suggest he wouldn’t be willing to stay for a while at his next club. He’s younger than prototype project manager Ten Hag ffs. Coaches high pressing possession football (and before people say it’s boring, it’s how Pep’s City play and they are the best club side in Prem history) which is exactly what we need. Has an aura/stature to excite the fans and command authority in the dressing room. Top appointment.
Hmmmm, that sounds strangely familiar! 🤔😂

The process is clearly on lockdown which is no bad thing I suppose. If it is Vinny I would suggest it is a high risk and optimistic appointment but not one that could yield huge positives.
Having said that as I have said before all we can ask is for the powers that be to do their due diligence. Surely the most pressing issue is the structure or the plan

Very strange the amount of journos coming out today saying that Levy must appoint Poch now if he is to quell dissent amongst fans. Would be a heck of a coincidence they all write it on Monday morning...

How fast can you change the entire squad though? We will be depended on current players for a while. And they will know there's no place for then in Enrique's end product. In other words it's in their best interest if he fails.

Sports journalism 101.

They are all writing about and advocating the thing they know Levy won’t do As a mechanism to rile up those who don’t agree and so generate more interest/ more conflict at games.

I have had an interesting chat with one of those journalists whose article is high profile today and he admits as much. The feeling is that from DL’s side there is just no going back and he was in the right to get rid in the first place.
