I really really don’t want to get excited, because we get linked to so many players so often and things usually don’t work out. But this would be the guy we’ve waited years for. I honestly believe he has the talent to take us to the next level. Alongside Kane and Son we would be deadly.

I either want him signed or ITK/AG to crush it today so I don’t get my hopes any higher.
Unless things have changed recently, I'm fairly sure this guy is not our primary target.

Sorry really feel like I jinxed this...

Ah there's the pooh-pooh.

These Daka and Edouard links were much more interesting to me than Milik too, who by all means will be a great signing should we pull it off.
Our first target must be very, very good if clubs wants him over likes of Daka, Edouard and Milik though

Celtic's normal annual turnover is around £80-85 million without Champions League football, and something like £40 million of that is matchday revenue (which obviously could end up being £0 this season), so they could be looking at turning over less than £50 million this season. Their wage bill is around £59 million according to their most recent accounts, so they're probably not in a position to be turning down good money at the moment.

Edouard only has 21 months left on his current deal, so he can speak to clubs outside of Scotland about a pre-contract in just 15 months time. That means that Celtic may only have this window and possibly the January one to make decent money on him

Genuinely can't see who else it could be past Rafael Leao or Dembele.

Milik was reported to be Jose's top target a while ago, but I assume the one Dragon is talking to has superseded that.

I really can't see who it could possibly be anymore. But Jose made it very clear in his presser that we won't be signing a 'backup' ST. Any ST coming in will either compete with Kane, or play alongside him. That sort of striker won't be cheap

totally agree that they seem to be focused elsewhere but there are rumors of Laca leaving but they also have Pepe in the wings and Willian. Also, where is Arsenal getting money from? Read they're struggling to sign either Partey or Aouar so don't think they could sign one of those and then have money for a big striker.

Unfortunately Arsenal have major cache with French/Francophile players - assume leftover from Wenger as their front man for so long.

Really? That doesn’t sound like Daniel Levy. At all. Not one little bit.

Once again, people far too easily forget that what we hear from the media and itks is rarely the whole story and, in all likelihood, isn’t even always chronological. So while it might seem to you that Spurs are flailing around amateurishly, it’s highly unlikely that that is a true representation of what is happening. Far more likely is simply that many transfers are indeed complicated; that Spurs operate within certain constraints; that the level of player we are trying to buy often puts us up against clubs with equal or greater resources and attractiveness; that players and agents and selling clubs are all fighting for their own interests as much as we are for ours; and that fans of all clubs get frustrated by protracted or failed pursuits of their clubs’ targets.

Agreed. It's Odds-on Edouard to Spurs will hit some hitch or other...

:sorry:

Didn’t we pay a very large loan fee for Lo Celso initialally so the transfer money was much lower which meant his club paid a much, much lower sell on fee.

There we all were thinking we had finally cracked the code and found the mystery striker only for Trix to swoop in, shit on us from a great height and leave us pointlessly speculating for the rest of the weekend.

Don’t want to be too cynical, but a factor in paying a high fee this summer is the eventual Kane question. To buy someone with this guy’s smoothness, instincts and potential (or Daka) you’ll have to fork over a big fee, but perhaps not as big as the finished product of Edouard -Osimhen going for 70 and Moussa Dembele being valued at 60+ as an example. And to tell the truth, we don’t want to be in a situation where we’re being raked over the coals if Kane was to leave (feels dirty even saying that).

I think Levy understands this, cynically, and it’s a tough situation wherein buying an Edouard, Daka, or Milik, while it would actually improve our chances of keeping Kane, also gives us less risk if he was to go. I think this is what Herc and Dragon allude to with a willingness to pay big fees for a really top striker prospect.
If Kane were to leave we would spend a big chunk of the money on his replacement. I can't see us having the money now for someone who would be good enough to replace Kane. Sure we could take a gamble on someone with the potential but we would still spend the money on a top class forward (we would need another forward signed if he went anyway).

Fuck me there's only a certain amount of strikers that can do well enough on football manager for people to mention, we're running out of names here.

So if it's not Daka or Edouard , then there aren't many options left. Either the PSV or Milan options seem most likely. Both Vinicius and Paulinho (different one), scored a decent amount of goals, in Portugal, last season.

I guess Jovic is a possibility though I doubt it.

The Portuguese media, but not the UK as far as I know, have linked us to Jovane Cabral (I have many thoughts on this but will save them for if there is ever a thread), but he can't really play the 9 role. He tends to play much wider.
