Just asked a Celtic fan I know, who is relatively close to the club but has never claimed to be ITK in any way, about him...

We’ve been clear we don’t want him to go anywhere because of what’s at stake this year. The only way he’ll go imo is it he says he wants to go and we get a bid of around £40m

What's at stake this year? What like the Scottish league title and domestic cups they stroll to every season?

To anyone who thinks the striker is a backup signing and tows the tired "who is gonna want to play back up to Kane??" line, please watch José's press conference between 20 - 21 minutes:

Don’t want to be too cynical, but a factor in paying a high fee this summer is the eventual Kane question. To buy someone with this guy’s smoothness, instincts and potential (or Daka) you’ll have to fork over a big fee, but perhaps not as big as the finished product of Edouard -Osimhen going for 70 and Moussa Dembele being valued at 60+ as an example. And to tell the truth, we don’t want to be in a situation where we’re being raked over the coals if Kane was to leave (feels dirty even saying that).

I think Levy understands this, cynically, and it’s a tough situation wherein buying an Edouard, Daka, or Milik, while it would actually improve our chances of keeping Kane, also gives us less risk if he was to go. I think this is what Herc and Dragon allude to with a willingness to pay big fees for a really top striker prospect.

As has been said in the past, there is an overarching budget and then there is a maximum price we would play for any specific player. I think with someone like Edouard you are correct and we could end up offering much higher than we would of for Watkins for example. who in turn we would have paid more for than Josh King.

Likelihood is that if this one comes off we go for a cheaper option in one of our other positions, such as RB or CB.

In a perfect world everything is sorted and we wait for Celtic to get their replacement in.

So now we've gone from people creaming themselves over Daka (fair enough) to being linked with another highly talented prospect and the 'can't see us spending £40mill on him' comments coming ... If Daka had been the confirmed target I wonder if folk would have said the same?

This after it's been said money to spend on a striker is there it's how we spend the money - we've been creative with Lo Celso - I'm sure we can be creative again ...

He’s better than Mbappe

We aren’t selling him though

We’ve been linked with a striker this morning who’s name first appeared as someone we’d go for if Edouard left.

Edouard was probably earmarked as the next big thing in France coming through the youth ranks.

A combination of playing for PSG and being involved in a drive by shooting set him back a bit. Been outstanding for us since he signed and imo has more tools than Dembele who’s banging them in for Lyon. Eddy likely go to the very top. Similar feeling with Van Dijk.

I think he was exaggerating with the very first bit

This is quite interesting considering the ramp up of ITK on this mystery striker this week.

Posting here because it's not itk, but not sure how there is a legal point to stop two clubs agreeing a deal, especially when loan deal with obligation to buy is very popular right now.

I Don’t know, you maybe right. However, I’d have thought breaking fair play rules would result in a 2 year transfer ban, yet a technicality got an oil rich club off the hook i.e. City.

When you have millions, people influential in the right places, loop holes can be created or picked anywhere legally. I’m sure since Lo Celso, they’ve been researching how to mitigate it from happening again.

ha ha. The article is such a Nothing article. Basically lists all the teams that have been linked with an interest in the last 18 months.

excited if we have a chance to screw PSG again on a sell on a la GLC.
All the clubs that the agent, selling club and media have decided to pretend are interest ;)

I'm sure they have too but the Edouard deal was signed with Celtic before we did the GLC deal, so I imagine the sell-on verbiage hadn't been scrutinized at that point. They've probably adjusted their sell-on contracts since GLC but that doesn't go retroactive to previous deals.

Although on that point you could argue why would PSG even worry about FFP full stop after City got off...

I’d agree with the obvious changing of future contracts regarding sell on clauses, however they’d still be looking at the ones that are pre-existing.

Edouard would be a great player, hopefully we do get him or someone of his quality in and do one over PSG again.

If Celtic get a decent offer they will sell, no doubt about it. Regardless of the 10 in a row that they are going for, they should be able to reinvest some of the transfer fee and still win the league as rangers are minging! They also signed Ajeti from West Ham recently for 5m. Just depends on how much they realistically want for him. Fans of Celtic will say he isn’t going anywhere because they plan a record breaking 10 league wins in a row, but their board will just see the cash as usual
