Our Wage Bill?

I was talking with a colleague at work about our spending this summer. He was trying to tell me that despite not actually doing a lot net spending this year after we sell Bale we're going to be much worse off financially because our wage bill is going to go through the roof due to all the new players. I was trying to look around for wages for our players, and it's very hard to find that kind of information. There's a lot of estimates but nothing concrete.

Players out: Bentley, Gallas, Bostock, Caulker, Dempsey, Huddlestone, Parker, Bale.

Players in: Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Eriksen, Lamela, Chiriches.

Ade and Benny are possibilities to leave still, with the former being on a hell of a lot I'm sure.

Any ideas what kind of wages these guys are/have been on and whether we've actually spent much more?

It'd be amazing to see us not only break even in transfer fees but also wages too. If that ends up being true it actually makes it even more incredible when you consider the comparison of players that have come in to those that have gone out!

We've recruited cleverly in that all 7 players have come from teams with lower wage bills than us, while moving on some experienced prem veterans. Wouldn't surprise me at all for all 7 players to be cheaper than the ones they are replacing. There is probably a looming issue with renewals but CL would allow us to give the players a lot more money.

At a guess:

Bentley - 70k
Gallas - 60k
Bostock - packet of peanuts
Hudd - 40k
Parker - 70k
Caulker - 30k
Dempsey - 70k
Bale - 90k

Total - 350k

Paulinho - 70k
Chaldi - 50k
Capoue - 60k
Saldado - 80k
Lamela - 70k
Vlad - 50k
Eriksen - 70k

Total - 450k

Probably way out and I'm half cut so may have added it up wrong but I would say our wages wouldn't have gone up much more than 100k.

Bentley and Gallas were on 60k each. Parker was rumoured to be on 70k, Dempsey would be around 50k I reckon, Hudd 35k, Bald on over 100k obviously. Gomes will hopefully go too, that's another 60k. One of Defoe ( 60k ) or Adebayor ( 100k ) could be off too.

Soldado aside ( and I read he is on 64k but he also picked up a cool £4m as part of his loyalty bonus during the transfer ) we have not bought massive, massive names from clubs that pay massive, massive wages. Chadli, Chiriches, Capoue and Paulinho would have been on peanuts, relatively speaking.

I actually think we might have shed a few quid wages wise!

All ready been discussed here

And this what I said there

Probably remaining the same may have even have lowered the wage bill.

Thud - 40K??
Bentley - 50k?
Gallas - £60k??
Caulker - £20k??
Clint Dempsey £80k??
Scott Parker - £80k??
Bale - £100k++??
Adebayor £80k++??

400 - 500k approx

Lamela - £60k??
Soldado - £80K??
Capoue - £40k??
Chadli - £20K
Eriksen - £40K??
Chiriches - £20K
Paulinho - £80K

300 - 350k

The previous season is where we done really we had a big clear out
VDV, Modric, King, Corluka, Kranjcer, Jenas, Pienaar, Cudicini,
With Dembele, Dempsey, Adebayor, LLoris In

If we get rid of Adebayor we will have controlled the wage bill very well.

Educated guesses give me a positional breakdown of:
Goalkeepers: £200k p/w
Defenders: £400k p/w
Midfielders: £300k p/w
Forwards: £500k p/w

So a total of £1.4m p/w (c. £73m p/a) for the senior squad.

The last reported wage bill was £90m (year to 30 June 2012) so we're looking good I reckon, especially when you consider that there're still one or two high earners to leave this window.

Chadli, Vlad, Paulinho and Erikson wouldn't be earning much more than 40 k surely considering the clubs and wages they would have came from

That's some trick, better players on lower wages.
Hard to believe but seems to be true from these figures.

I don't think Dutch clubs generally pay very much in wages, IMO the top earners in the Netherlands will probably be on 20-30K a week.On another note I am sure I read somewhere that CEriksen even made a point of saying that he wanted AJAX to get a transfer fee for him rather than him leave next year on a FT. So he must have felt the club should get a return on their investment. Even Ajax have to a CL regular has to be very careful with the purchases and wages.

I've been looking around and can't find anything concrete, but from various reports and "ITK" info it looks like we may have cut down our wage bill.

Our sales/releases: Bale (90k), Gallas (65k), Bentley (50k), Dempsey (65k), Huddlestone (40k), Caulker (30k), Bostock (15k) and Parker (70k) seems to be the general consensus (averaged out). That's an estimate of £425k pw we've recouped.

Our new signings: Soldado (80k), Paulinho (65k), Chadli (45k), Capoue (50k) and Chiriches (20k). Reports in Italy suggested that Lamela doubled his wages (€2.4mil pa) which puts him on about £80k pw if we round it up. I couldn't find anything on Eriksen but so far that's an estimate of about £340k pw we're shelling out on new signings. Unless Eriksen is on £85k pw, which I highly doubt, we've most likely lowered the wage bill.

Yes, these are estimates, but it's great to imagine that we've managed to improve the squad on a whole and add so much more depth to it without it affecting our wage bill negatively. If we get a left back in and a backup striker, and let go of Ade's big wages, we could find ourselves still breaking even.

Levy and Uncle Joe must be loving it.
