Out of 30 points left how many do you think we'll need?

10 games to go, 30 points to play for. Of course getting 30 points is nigh on impossible when you look at the teams we have left to play. 24 points is all we need to guarantee a finish above Arsenal and secure CL football. Does anyone think that this is do-able?

Liverpool (A)
Fulham (H)
Swansea (A)
Everton (H)
Chelsea (A)
City (H)
Wigan (A)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Sunderland (H)
Being totally and utterly honest, I can't see 8 wins in that list. Chelsea, City, Everton, Liverpool are all really tough games. You can't write off Swansea, Stoke are a bastard away, and Wigan/Southampton may be in a relegation scrap.

But you have to consider that we only need 24 points if Arsenal go on some ridiculous winning spree and get all 30 points, which I highly doubt they will. Their only "big" game is United, which I doubt they'll win, but they're bound to drop points here or there (they also have to play Everton who are breathing down their necks).

I reckon a good 20 points out of a possible 30 will do the trick. 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses sounds achievable to me (I actually think we can do better than this). But with 20 points it means Arsenal will have to get 27 points to potentially beat us on goal difference.
Does anyone think we can get 24 or would you all reckon that 20 is good enough?

Well I want us to have 24 points off the next 8 games... but I expect it to take longer in truth

*edit to correct my crappy multiplication

70 pts has been about the magic number to hit 3rd/4th. The only problem with that this year is the number of teams fighting for 3-6 now. If we take points from two of Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea, I think we can get it done with right around 4 wins from the rest of the fixtures.

17 to be sure, will give us 71 and I can't see arsenal only dropping 6 points!

We could really really do with UTD losing tomorrow as we don't want them paying CL semi final matches around the time they play arsenal and Chelsea especially with the league already won!

Don't like Chelsea and Arsenal getting to play Utd, when they most likely will have won the league. Lets hope Utd get thrown out the CL, so they don't feel like they have to rest players in those PL games if the league is won. Conservatively I'd say we need 18 points, which would mean Arsenal winning all their games bar two.

I have a feeling that we may lose to Liverpool but then we'll get our **** together and not lose another game all season.

24, don't want to leave anything to chance as we all don't need reminding of what happened last season. Luckily for us we have a manager now who will leave nothing to chance hence am very confident that we will see CL footy at WHL next season. COYS!!!

17 will definitely do. Arsenal aren't going to win 8/10 games. No chance.

5 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats from our last 10 games. That is very achievable.

Arsenal's fixtures:

Swansea (A) - Tough game
Reading (H)
West Brom (A) - Tough game
Norwich (H)
Everton (H) - Tough game
Fulham (A) - Tough game
Manchester United (H) - Tough game
QPR (A) - They'll struggle here, QPR will be fighting for their lives to stay in the league
Wigan (H) - Again, Wigan will be fighting for survival and usually turn it on at this time of the year, i'd still expect them to win this though.
Newcastle (A) - Tough game

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this Arsenal team only wins about 5 of those. There's only 2/3 games you'd completely expect them to win.

We'll do it. (y) In fact, I think we could quite easily do it with about 14 points.

Tempting fate sure, but shouldn't we remember that Liverpool have been shit against ant half decent side all year?

Just cos they can rack up 4-5 against nothing teams, why should we fear them? I sure don't.

It irritated me last year when Redknapp set us up for a nil-nil.

Let's not make the same mistake again.

Anyway, point in hand: how many points? Man City and Chelsea: banana-skins, but we could get something out of them. Nothing else is remotely scary. 18-19 points would be a solid if unspectacular return and would be enough IMO

Six more wins should see us in the top 4. Might be enough for 3rd if one of those is against Chelsea.

I wouldn't say they've been shit, although they're not getting results. They outplayed both City and Arsenal at their grounds not so long ago and were one of the better teams at the Lane this season. I expect it to be a similar game to yesterday's. Liverpool will dominate possession and we'll look to play on the counter. Only difference could be they have someone special up front whereas Arsenal had Giroud.

Well I have to say I'm a lot more confident this time round with our manager as he really does a good job with the defence.

Let's just say that Arsenal buck up their ideas a bit after losing to us. I can see them dropping 2 points against Everton and Swansea, and 3 against Utd. Then let's just say they win the other 7. A couple of banana skin games in there as well like Wigan, Norwich, QPR and Newcastle. But still, if they win those that'll give them 23 points and 70 points in total.

If they get 70 points we need to better them by getting 17 points (6 wins, 5 wins/2 draws, or 4 wins/5 draws will do) which really is achievable despite having a tough run. I don't want to count my chickens before they've hatched but I'm feeling a lot more optomistic now after beating them.

If we win our 5 home games then I reckon we may only need 3-6 points from the away games. Obiously that's a big if but we're looking pretty solid at the Lane right now.

How good will the Chelsea game be if we are just ahead of them or a point or two behind them. AVB would be loving it and their fans will be bricking it.
