Looks like he may finally be getting his chance in the first team squad... He's a very promising player and I hope he gets a few chances before the end of the season.

Christ - clutching at straws a bit isn't it?

He's in the UEFA squad as well as Simon Dawkins, as well as such stars as ....

Jacques Maghoma
Jake Livermore
Kieran McKenna
Jamie Davis
Joseph Martin
Daniel Hutchins
David Hutton
Kyle Fraser-Allen

(The list goes on).

Put that crack pipe down. Now. Now step away from it. Tell yourself you don't need it.

I think after his reported comments in that interview young Tomas may have slipped down the pecking order - if not off it completely.

I think after his reported comments in that interview young Tomas may have slipped down the pecking order - if not off it completely.

I thought it was that international man of mystery, Lukas Pekhart, who gave that rather indiscreet interview praising his fellow Czech keeper, Radek Cerny...

More seriously, as Eddie Bailey pointed out, Woodgate, Gilberto and Tomas Pekhart were our three permitted changes to our UEFA Cup squad.
http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/club=1652/competition=14/index.html

So Pekhart was selected ahead of, and to the exclusion of, some promising youngsters such as Gunter and Rose for the third spot. This does suggest that if we have a striker crisis, particularly if Berba gets injured, Pekhart could be in the mix.

I admit this sounds surprizing given the lukewarm impression he's made on regular reserve watchers, but it may just be that Ramos wants to have the option of a big striker who can hold up the ball and link play (theoretically at least), if Berba was unavailable.

interesting that gilberto is listed as midfield

I must say if he isn't persona non grata after his recent interview I think Peks has a good chance of featuring in the UEFA

I don't think a top coach who is confident of his ability and of commanding respect will be so narrow-minded about some badly reported stuff a young lad might or might not have said.

Most likely, he'll be pulled aside by Gus and advised that care need to be taken about others' feelings when talking to the press. Then the whole thing would be forgotten. As to whether Pekhart makes it to the bench or onto the field at some future dates, it'll depend on circumstances and his own performance for the Reserves and on the training field.
