I love football fans.

He's played a total of 733 minutes of football for us over 18 appearances, coming on as a sub in 11 of those games and being subbed off in 4.

He has scored 7 goals, so roughly a goal every 105 minutes. He has also 3 assists

Yet based on this very limited data, he's obviously a flop. I'm not sure what people expect from a 'back-up' striker TBH
I actually made a mistake with these stats as I didn't realise the table included games for Benfica, so it's actually only 17 games for us, with 9 of those games coming on as a sub and 4 being subbed off, or 787 minutes of football

He has 9 goals, so a goal every 87 minutes and his 3 assists.

A box predator like Vinicius could easily play with Kane as well.

Problem is, Mou doesn't seem to ever want to play with 2 up top.

I don't think that's the case unless you're chasing the game and want to have a a couple of target men up front, but Kane is the player who who is able to hold the ball, play with his back towards goal, play in the channels etc...so you need a player like that up top leading the line whilst Vinicius isn't anywhere near Kane for for having those attributes.

His perfect partner is actually Son because he's the sort of player who can latch onto his balls and benefit from his hold up play and being double marked, he worked well with Berahino for England u21's for the same reason and to the same effect.

Vincius would also have to accept the loan and I doubt he does that, next year Scarlett will get more minutes probably too.

I don't see why Vinicius wouldn't. He's in the best league in the world playing for one of the biggest clubs.

He’s simply a goal scorer. He needs to be fed the ball, he will rarely carve out a chance by himself. A talented boy.

Feel like he hasn't been given a fair chance on a few occasions this season, to be honest. Frozen out at times for no apparent reason. For a player who is adjusting to a new country, language and league, with minimal playing time, I don't think 9 goals in 17 games is bad at all.

I wonder if Jose is pushing forward Dane Scarlet...as our second striker, rather than make Vinicius permanent?

It seems highly unlikely Jose would trust Scarlett to be our backup striker by the start of next season. If we don't sign or extend Vinicius I have a feeling we'll go to the market for another option.

I feel an extension of his loan or likewise a loan for another striker in the summer. Can’t see us shelling out on a CF with Parrott highly rated and also Scarlett on the horizon. Probably too soon for either next year, but maybe a year or so later we’d want them to be seeing a clear pathway, so signing someone permanently doesn’t quite make sense if they are both viewed as serious options.

From the outside looking in, it's hard to see beyond Vinicius not being with us next season, and the vacant spot being filled by the (surely?) cheaper & PL seasoned Danny Ings.

As suggested, he'd be cheaper, works his socks off, can play all across the front line, and even lead the line if Kane needs a rest/has his annual ankle injuries. He's very much a Mourinho type of player, seems to have been linked with us forever & (I think?) has been keen to join previously.

I think my ideal candidate for a forward to bring in could be Richarlison from Everton. I reckon he’s on the cusp of taking the step from very good player to really excellent. Would cost way, way too much money, though.

Wasn’t there rumors that Barcelona wanted him last year and the quoted price was 70 million, it’s an outrageous price for a good but inconsistent FW if the rumor were true, and we are never going to target him unless we are planning to replace Son, as he isn’t a no 9.

Can't stand the guy mate. Don't get the hype surrounding him & (from what little I've seen) if things aren't going his way he just becomes a stroppy so & so. Oh and he has a face I could joyfully slap for a week without so much of a hint of guilty conscience.

We'll probably never see it as when Vinicius starts it is to give Kane a breather, but I'd be interested to see a front 4 of:

Bale Kane Son
Vinicius
With the quality of passes and crosses from Bale, Kane and Son, Vinicius could get a lot of penalty box chances, which I think he would convert the majority of, especially given a run of games. I do not think people realise how difficult it must be to play a game, then sit out 3 or 4 games, then play a game, then sit out two games, then come on for 5 mins, then sit out three games, then start again. Especially for a forward.

I wish we’d signed Ollie Watkins.
Would have enabled us to rest and rotate Kane

In all fairness he’s playing well because he’s getting consistent games, but I’ve been so impressed with him this season

Exactly what I came here to post. Jose has made it clear that Dane will be a first team player next season so I think he is minded to promote from within rather than splurge 45 million on Sid. Dane will be delighted to get the number of minutes Sid has received this season and will sit contentedly on that bench waiting for an opportunity. Dane will be one of our players hoping Jose is still here next season for sure. Vini will get some more minutes, I like him but I cannot see us signing him permanently.

We don't need an outright Kane replacement though, Jose didn't use Sid that much when Kane was injured. We just need another front option to go with the other guys for rotation purposes. Dane would give that to us.

Agree. Pointless trying to find a direct backup for Kane as they just won’t play the required amount of matches to find any form and rhythm, as Kane is just too important for us to rotate. Better find a multifunctional forward like Son so they have more opportunities to play.
