I don't think people realise how good Asensio is, I went to Madrid the weekend after we beat them at wembley and got to witness him hit this one.

That goal aside, absolute quality player

Scores the odd belter, but I believe he is very inconsistent. Maybe things would change if he was playing week in week out.

Quite worried about this one all the sudden. Worst case scenario is Levy and Perez spend all summer dicking about regarding fee and then it’s September and Eriksen is still here and hasn’t signed a contract.

If he wants to leave, we have to take the money. Reinvest it in younger players. That’s what smart teams like Dortmund do. Can’t let our pride blinker us from making the analytically smart decision.

It's not levy and perez dicking about. It's perez and zidane. Zidane wants pogba and perez wants eriksen.

Oh yeah agreed 100%, but if they have convinced Zidane on Eriksen as the one report says, then it could switch quickly.

I think I'm okay if he goes tbh. Given us alot, and if he wants to move on then fair enough

I’ve made my peace with the fact that he may have to go, on the proviso that we get 65m+ and replace him with someone younger, hungrier and more naturally a CM...and brilliant too, obviously.

I think it’s just one of those things sadly

All players move on eventually, we’ll survive. I’d like him to stay for another season or two but I’d like another playmaker in too, ideally.

Yeah, it's part of the game and building a legacy

When establish players move on, you cash in and buy a hungry youngster (or two!) and the cycle continues

Or you could do an Arsenal and desperately hang onto your players, who eventually leave for a severely reduced fee and the overall quality of your squad crumbles over time

I don’t think we’ll realise just how much we’ll miss him until he’s gone, but if he wants to go and won’t sign a contract then we don’t have a lot of choice.

Been said multiple times, but if we do cash in it’s not enough to simply just replace him with Lo Celso or another. That new player may or may not take to the PL and will likely also not have the same impeccable injury record that Eriksen has.

We have to get two creative AM’s. It’s been a weakness in the squad for a long time.

Exactly.

Replacing Eriksen 1:1 with GLC would not improve us at all, actually we would be in a worse spot.

Also, all ITK has said that he will sign a new contract, if none of the 2 spanish clubs comes in.

Yesterday’s “news” came as a bit of a surprise. I think it’s unlikely our chairman was dealing with Real to fuel their financial interests in the player. I cannot see ZZ going for CE rather than Pogba and I cannot see Pogba staying at Utd.

The other issue is this looks like it has the capacity to drag on and on into the late stages of the window.

Could end up a real problem for us ( no pun intended).

I’d still be very surprised if Pogba left United. I think they’re putting their foot down and trying to establish their authority on that one.

If they offer us cash plus Asensio for Eriksen then we’ve absolutely robbed them blind
Just me who thinks Asensio isn’t all he is cracked up to be? Much like a Pedro, Bojan, etc. Scoring goals for a team which is always totally dominant in their league with the exception of about 4 games a year is really not a guarantee for success. Just ask Chelsea who spent £60 on Morata ?

Ive got to the point where I don't care if he stays or goes to be honest. If he does go to Madrid I wouldn't be surprised if the white hankys come out by Christmas.
One sublime pass every 3 or 4 games doesn't do it for me against 2 goals from free kicks in three years and abysmal corners. They already have midfielders who keep things ticking over.

Have we become like the Madrid fans? It surely sound like that. Demanding everything and more from Eriksen. He has made thing team tic for almost six years. Show some respect to the man.

Just because Eriksen is getting his first real criticism since he joined doesn’t mean we’re ‘like the Madrid fans’

Considering he’s peak age I’m really not sure why they want him. The needs of their team is different to ours right now. He’s got a year left but Levy won’t let him go for peanuts so it’s not even because it would be a cheap deal.

But he would be significantly cheaper than Pogba
