If he continues to put in performances like that we should buy him in January. Class act and a clear upgrade on Davies.

Night and day compared with the west ham game.

Romero and Lenglet are streets ahead of davinson and Davies in possession.

Obviously just one game, but so promising.

I hope we stick with him. Love him he’s a cut above Davies and we need to give him a run of games now

He’s great on the ball. We kinda knew that though. Jury still out about how good he is defensively. I’d start him against Marseille but Davies against City as Ben is very comfortable on the ball himself and is has proven to be an excellent box defender.

Very impressed with him on the ball but we didn't have a huge amount of defending to do today so need a bigger sample size to get a better feel for how good he is overall.

That said, I think Davies has been a wee bit overrated on here at LCB under Conte (he's been very solid but rarely outstanding) and Lenglet definitely gave us a taste of what someone better on the ball can give us on that side of the defence.

The problem isn’t Davies it’s Davison and Emerson
All 3 aren’t good enough.

I think our best 3 would be Romero, Lenglet and if he has been coached enough defensively I think possibly Spence could be our best RWB.

But Lenglet makes it look easy, breath of fresh air and clear upgrade on Davies. Davies can now go back to his role of dependable reliable squad player.

Davies isn't good enough either
Exactly, he’s decent but he’s not an elite conte cb which is what we need. There was 2 or 3 times yesterday I watch lenglet get pressed and he simply stayed calm and turned the right way and picked a cutting accurate pass that sprang an attack. Davies struggles when pressed and his passing isn’t his best quality. I like Davies and I think he’s good when we are backs to the wall defending in our own box, but we’ll never have the full game control conte way of playing with him

i think all 3 are good enough for the squad in an ideal world you wouldn’t want Royal and Davison on the pitch together.

Personally think Davies is a better passer than Dier, Romero and Sanchez. And better on the ball than Dier and Sanchez. (although that's a pretty low bar)

Actually there were times yesterday when i forgot it wasn't Davies playing as Lenglet has a similar gait/stature.

Wouldn't write ol' Ben of just yet as he's earnt Conte's trust...

Everyone is a better passers than Sanchez. But I strongly disagree Davies is betterbat playing out than Romero.

Ben is pretty good at passing between the lines. maybe a bit more risk averse in his passing than Romero. (who is obviously the "betterbat" bringing the ball forward ;) )

None of this really matters though, the only CB position Davies can play is LCB and he’s competing with Lenglet. Early prediction but even before his good performance yesterday I’ve thought Lenglet will prove a better option there. The LCB position is made for him with his aggressive front foot style of defending and quality on the ball. A lot of people are underestimating him as a defender because of a few perceived mistakes at Barca that mostly weren’t even his fault and got blown out of proportion

A few weeks of training under Conte and his first start and we're starting to see the Lenglet of a few years ago pre Barcelona that football people raved about. Good acquisition.

I like the way he’s isn’t afraid to pass it first time, it really initiates attacks. Davies is so much slower and ponderous on the ball.
