Food for thought , who is regarded the better full back by professionals, Trips or Rose. Trips gets himself a move to a pretty big club in Atletico with one of the longest serving managers in Europe, Rose has the whole summer off and can't find a club that wants him.

At his age (29) he should be using his consummate knowledge of the left-back's position (we wish) and his perfect reading of the game (we also wish) to become a devastating creative presence who can turn defence into attack, a la Denis Irwin, not a prematurely aged Ashley Cole.

I mean, Danny Rose knows what Danny Rose is worth and will make sure he gets his move to a club up north where he doesn’t need to google his teammates, so I’m not sure being given exactly what he believes he deserves is denting his confidence any time soon.

So you don't think the preseason stuff would have effected him at all?

He probably has lost some pace, and isn't as good as he used to be, but I bet confidence and motivation come into it was well.
