What's wrong with him, just making basic errors, positional shocking
ITS

The trouble is that its not only him - Aurier should not be anywhere near the side Vertonghen looks as though his legs have gone he is looking at others to blame where he is all over the place even Toby who is the most reliable looks a little lost

Davies has to play left back

Some sites saying he’s disgruntled as Sissoko offered a new deal and he wasn’t, would post link but can’t remember if allowed to post from football insiders or whether that just applies to transfer forum.

Difficult situation as he should have been treated better in summer but on other hand not doing himself any favours with his performances, although given he seems to me kind of player who needs an arm around him maybe not a surprise.

The problem there is that Poch always wants to rotate his full backs so he's going to keep getting games. Saying that Sessegnon could be ready soon and we won't have two games a week every week so he might be phased out soon.

I saw that article too and it certainly rings true.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if this has pushed Toby’s and Jan’s noses out of joint too.

When your back four are disgruntled you’re always on to a loser.

Poch needs to get a grip of this and exclude any poisoned apples.

I think he would have been handed one if the club didn't blatantly try to get rid of him.

It is a tad stupid as Vertonghen clearly wanted to stay on and instead of being rewarded, Poch suddenly drops him at start of the season leaving us all scratching our heads.

So interesting whether Vertonghen performances now are indeed because his legs are going a bit (although he’s not THAT old for a centre back, or whether his heart is gone as maybe been treated a bit shoddily by club?). Players are only human after all and e.g. if I’m at work and someone else is taking piss and not doing as good as me but gets a pay rise I’d be pissed and demotivated too (although in this case Sissoko has worked bloody hard, but let’s face it he really shouldn’t be a nailed on starter). Vertonghen also didn’t show signs of his legs going when he put in that excellent performance at left wing back in champions league, playing out of position for the team.

Same with Rose, he’s got his own demon so maybe needs that little more man-management and what did the club do? They left him behind during preseason, which I would find embarrassing if me and won’t give him a new deal because of his age either.

There are some really poor decisions being made in the management of the squad.

Toby blatantly just wants to run his contract down though so for two seasons now we should have been phasing him out with either Sanchez (who we seem to have ruined the confidence of) or brining in another centre back.

It's within these clusterfuck situations as to why I'm giving Poch the benefit of the doubt with the situation we find ourselves in, because this for me this scratches the surface of the dire situation we find our dressing room in and the compounding effect it must have despite the quality we have in our squad.

Can't keep letting players wear the shirt with attitudes like this. Loan him out in Jan and get a decent LB in.

Fair enough, he clearly is not worried about playing football, but don’t want to hear him moaning when he’s not playing and wondering why

Honesty is nice and he's a great character, but is his intention to hang up his boots when he's 31? The older he gets, the less likely it is that he'll be offered a decent deal anywhere else. And looking at his performances this season, where he's had about twice as many shocking games as acceptable ones, it'll get harder and harder.

Also this line had me giggling:

[Rose's stance is a significant blow to Spurs...]

Quite a development from him going on about not being paid enough to him not wanting to please just fuck off being seen as a "significant blow".

The amount of players we need to replace just to stand still is laughable

Legin pointed out to me a few weeks back it seems to be the price you pay for being a decent team as United/Chelsea/Arsenal also had the problem of deadwood also but the problem we have that they don't is the lack of resource to just let them sit on the bench forever and buy replacements regardless. Shit situation if we can't shift them on, not really sure what Levy can do but does make think that's why he's giving Poch time.

His honesty only helps himself and not us or the club. Which is exactly why he's mouthed off as soon as he could when he's away from the club
