Why is the first thought to overreact?

As soon as I read those quotes I knew it was cause he had been pulled for precautionary reasons.

A coach doesnt say what the Italian did if he had a significant injury problem.

There is a greater issue at hand though.

Players are being overworked and FIFA and the authorities need to deal with it.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, however FIFA and i dare say the local FA's all make plenty of money from international games. As such there wont be any support to play less.

As an example, the English FA probably make a significant amount from 1 England home match when you factor in ticket sales, food and drink, matchday hospitality, sponsorship, TV rights etc etc.

They simply wouldnt turn down that kind of money in favour of giving players a break
