I just think that the past few years Levy has fucked up big style on a few things, mainly transfers and the squad. Fuck up after fuck up.

One signing later and he's a genius, i'm not saying he shouldn't be praised for doing this deal. i'm not saying he deserves no credit, i'm just saying that some of the words being used are a bit over the top :D

I was going to go with messiah, touch strong boss? ?

Most people appreciate what Levy has done over the years but he's made it very difficult to progress on the pitch on several occasions. That has always been the problem and the most frustrating thing about an otherwise amazing chairman.

You'd think that, if Madrid really did want us to pay all of his wages, this is something that would've been spoken about in the very first conversation between the clubs. Unless Madrid are doing a Levy and changing their terms at the last minute, I'm calm.

Announcement video script:

The opening strains of the theme from 2001 are heard as the Sun is seen rising over the planet Jupiter.

As the light brightens, we see it isn't Jupiter at all but a golf ball seen extremely close up. While the music rises to its crescendo, the head of a 9 iron swings down from the top of the screen and smashes the ball into a glass wall from behind which the Sun has been glaring.

The image darkens to black before the letters B A L and E fade into view - silver, metallic, huge.

The Sun again rises behind the name before transforming into a football on top of which stands the Spurs cockerel.

Fade to black.

This is the first time this 'twitter account' has piped up ... Seems odd he has that much advanced knowledge yet most other accounts/outlets saying it's close...

Agree. I maintain nobody knows where this is at the moment bar a select few involved in the deal. It’s just guesswork until an official announcement is made either way by the clubs.

What did he say?

This next gen of pundits is dreadful. Trevor Sinclair aside, it’s like they’re being told that Merson is the example to follow.

I heard Trevor Sinclair (on TS) say, that with a couple of quality signings the Spammers could challenge the top 4...

Just need Bale to do a LeBron...
(if it also includes some form of trophy then I am completely fine with it)

Ultimately both sides want it done. I’m sure there’s plenty of haggling going on currently, but there would be hell raised on all sides if it didn’t get done now.

That is a transfer strategy, and includes managers and scouts. Nothing to do with building a club that is - as I keep on saying - able to pull off audacious deals like this. The point is Levy has created the conditions where Bale is attainable, as opposed to being a complete non-starter.
Oh for FUCKS sake. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in............:D

Levy hasn't created the conditions where Bale is obtainable. Madrid have. Bale has. The way his last couple of years at Madrid have gone have done all of that, all of the things each party has done, claimed and counter claimed have done all that. NOT Daniel Levy. If he was playing under a manager who he got on with, there's no way he'd even be close to being sold and certainly no way Levy would buy him..

But for all of the above there is no way we would have a sniff, it really, really really has got fuck all to do with any new stadium, genius chess moves or dazzling grand strategy by Levy. But the deal is there and Levy is (hopefully) doing it. So well done from that perspective.

And that's it. I'm not just out now, i'm out out.

If Bales agent says it's close then you'd imagine they are well past the big stuff like wages and fees.

I'm not getting suckered in to the wages not clarified yet, this has been dealt with otherwise we wouldn't be talking about close. This would have been the trickiest part of the whole negotiations. I wouldn't be surprised if it's ironing out image rights or some sort. The fact remains Bale wants to come back, we want him back and Real want him to go, so the deal will ultimately get done if all parties want it.

Yes but don't let that stop people mentioning the Willian deal which was the only 1 of it's kind and hasn't come close to happening ever since.

Arsenal fan in my office is refusing to accept this could be happening, describing it as "absolute bollocks". Clearly rattled at the prospect...
