Who's downplaying? It's a deal, a complex deal for sure but one that pretty much any chairman of any football club would do, it's not so riddled with intricacy that there's only a few people in the world that could manage it. We're not talking cracking the Enigma machine here.

I'm not suggesting he deserves no credit and like I said, fair play to him IF it happens but Genius? Masterstroke? Nah. Not for me.

even a stuck clock gives the right time twice a day ;)

I'd say either:

lloris
Doherty dier toby/sanchez reguilon
lo celso Hojbjerg ndombele
bale kane son

or

lloris
dier toby sanchez
Doherty lo celso Hojbjerg reguilon
bale kane son

or (and this might be too attacking)

lloris
Doherty dier toby/sanchez reguilon
lo celso hojberg
bale dele son
kane
Option four all the way, we’re going full Medieval Ozzie!
Get Dele up as close to Kane as possible with son and bale interchanging.

I just cant see Dele getting into this team any time soon. Not with Bale able to play no. 10 - plus Bergwijn showing more promise, Jose's love for Moura and NDombele hopefully sorting himself out and quite able to cause damage in an advanced midfield role. Time for Dele to step up - and given his recent comments, really hope he finds his way back to his best.

Oh for FUCKS sake. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in............:D

Levy hasn't created the conditions where Bale is obtainable. Madrid have. Bale has. The way his last couple of years at Madrid have gone have done all of that, all of the things each party has done, claimed and counter claimed have done all that. NOT Daniel Levy. If he was playing under a manager who he got on with, there's no way he'd even be close to being sold and certainly no way Levy would buy him..

But for all of the above there is no way we would have a sniff, it really, really really has got fuck all to do with any new stadium, genius chess moves or dazzling grand strategy by Levy. But the deal is there and Levy is (hopefully) doing it. So well done from that perspective.

And that's it. I'm not just out now, i'm out out.

I have to agree with A&C. No one is considering two factors here (no particular order):

- The economy: teams can not afford these wages and I think RM finally have succumbed to the fact that they have to budge. I think you have to consider the fact that the type of negotiations where a big club is eating some of his wage or agreeing to be flexible about wages hadn’t happened like this, and the COVID disaster and shut down should come into play, To our benefit, and this is the only time I’ll say this, Levy is a mastermind with finances, making the most of this situation. Also important to know we had a clause where we were first option if I’m not mistaken in the transfer of bale. I don’t think we would have ever had this opportunity if it weren’t for the economy and the forced creativity required from both parties.

- Bale: You have to imagine the combination of Madrid media and fans killing him makes him want to go to a place where fans adore him. I have to believe confidence is a big factor here and having the confidence to be a strong player mentally will go a long way for his physical issues. I also have to imagine that a component has to be getting fit for the Euros. He’s won everything but international cups and doing it for Wales has got to be somewhat of a factor here. He won’t get minutes at Madrid, and he has a solid squad here where he doesn’t have to be the star, but can be if he wants to be. I feel that both of these are important.

Think about it, if it's this close and Real Madrid pull out of it now does anyone think Gareth Bale will be as pissed off as he was last year with the China deal, less pissed off than last year or more pissed off than last year? Do they really want a truly pissed off Welsh Dragon collecting their gold like Smaug.

On this part - didn't this get written out when he signed a new contract with them, a few years ago? Can't find mention of it now, though you are right, we did have a clause in there initially.
