Just pulling your leg mate. Couldn't resist, given the word. But people in glass houses and all that.... I do it all the time!

I knew it didn't look right when I posted it but couldn't work out what was wrong. I shall punish myself by not having any pudding tonight.

I’m not sure what Gedson is yet but if we get Europa, we have a whole season and we can see what he offers. Was a smart deal with the small loan fee for 18 months, especially with that Sissoko injury. He’s only had 6 months to settle also.

We've barely seen him play yet? I don't understand our fanbase's insistence on writing players off as soon as possible.

Maybe/definitely the worst fanbase in the world for it.

Worst fanbase ? worse than RM and their initially Moddy hating 'fans' Worse than Chelsea ? Come on.

On Gedson , if I had seen the tiniest whisper of greatness in his performances ,I'd be in for keeping him , but atm 40 mill needs to go elsewhere imo .

Easily. There is not a single person in our entire club that hasn't been written off by big portions of our fanbase at some point. Lloris - constantly, Aurier - constantly, Toby - loads before he signed and "past it" as soon as we concede a goal, Sanchez - slated at every opportunity, Davies - never been good enough apparently, Ndombele - slated massively, Winks - same, Lo Celso - written off after he didn't play every single game at the start (people now give him a chance), Dele - slated all the time, Kane - doubted more by Spurs fans than any other club's fans at the start, Son - slagged off all the time, Lamela - hated by the gammons, Moura - slated relentlessly ("Brazilian Walcott") - rinse and repeat for Foyth, Jan, KWP, Dier, Gazzaniga, Vorm, Gedson, Skipp etc.

The only one I can think of that hasn't had a massive section of detractors is Bergwijn and even then there were loads of doubts about the fact he "came from a farmer's league". Then you just have to look at the threads for Hojbjerg, Kim Min-Jae, Aarons, Castagne etc etc and you'll find Spurs fans desperate to detract from potential signings so they can get in nice and early on the side of the naysayers.

It's pathetic and a big reason we're one of the most hated fanbases in the world.

All fan bases have whinging old flanges. Even man city and liverpool have detractors, even toward Aguero and Firminho. United were the worst for it. Hes not a united player, blah blah blah.

It's the internet. People blab and moan. But at the ground, most of the time its singing and cheering with the odd fat bloke calling someone out for not running.

I don't think that's the reason any spurs fans get any stick. It's more the arrogant scouse syndrome.of believing we deserve to be 'up there' and that being in the champs league actually means we have won something.

When we could laugh at ourselves, we were more likeable.

Anyway. Gedson. Early doors agreed, but as a fan of spurs, ive yet to see anything that would justify a perma' signing. Especially if the numbers in here are anything to go by. See what happens but I dont know where he will get any meaningful game time to show his talents to their full? Let's hope I'm off the mark and he flies high.

You can see a player ? For that money someone said 40 million geez that is robbery you wanna see someone with a site more ability than he has shown so far. He might turn out to be a world beater but atm he aint worth nowhere near that amount - he plays like a kid from the youth team he has a few decent flicks but he is so lightweight. If you could get him for a couple of million he is worth a punt but for the money quoted your having a giraffe

So that's why we have another year to see if he's worth that 40 or not

All an option to buy means is that if we offer the pre-agreed price then Benfica are legally obliged to accept the bid. There's nothing to stop us offering a lower price if we want him but don't think he's worth the option price. Only difference in that case is that Benfica would have the right to turn the bid down and could accept offers from elsewhere or take the player back if they wanted to.

The fact they let him go on an 18-month loan suggests to me they're amenable to a sale, and unless he rips it up with us next season I can't imagine anybody else is going to offer them 40mil.

Not sure what's there to criticize about Gedson tbh. Even if he doesn't play another game for us it doesn't matter. It was a smart move to bring him in on loan in Jan with an *option* given our injury crisis at the time. It was as a low a risk signing as you could find. If he came in and ripped it up we'd have first option to keep him and if he flops, we don't have to take a big hit financially or struggle to sell him. Very different situation to N'jie, N'koudou, Jansen etc.

I cant say for definite what type of player Gedson is although I have seen similarities to Grealish in how he manipulate the ball ie close control driving forward. He has shown whenever picked close control a burst of speed a good engine technically seems a very skillful player.
I have no problem at all with the price we need young quality talents in our squad.

Let’s be honest even if the option to buy was for 2p levy would still try and renegotiate it so if we do want him he’ll still try to do it here

Too little seen of him to make a fair assessment. Would like to understand where Mourinho thinks he fits.

I think he’ll be used as a rotational option in a 3 man midfield next season. I could also see him playing RM in a 442, a role he played quite frequently for Benfica.

Why do people have their knickers in such a twist? Because his name is Fernandes? He's a kid who we've barely seen. Ndombele is/was rated as one of the best upcoming midfielders in Europe but we haven't seen much of him either. They both might flop, but equally they could still become the spine of our team in the next few years. I'm fucked if I know at this point. Patience?

Don’t have a clue how anyone can judge gedson yet for a start he has hardly played secondly he has only played his actual position a handful of times

I think Gedson is classic example of a talented player who has been developed in completely the wrong position. There is virtually nothing about his game that suggests he can be an effective attacking midfielder. He should drop back as either a DM or box to box CM. It's like Sissoko, who it seems hard to believe that his youth coaches didn't see an obvious RB. We see players change positions a bit in top level senior football, but I think it should happen much more frequently.

I find it so hard to believe that in 5 years from now Gedson is going to be scoring 10+ goals per season and creating another 10. But he's a good athlete, a very good tackler when you watch his clips on YT and is an alright passer. He could easily develop into someone who keeps things ticking over in the middle of the park and be very effective when winning the ball back. I think if he remains as an attacking midfielder, he'll waste his career.

This is how I feel about Lamela, who I think should’ve been trained as an outright CM due to his ability to take and keep the ball under pressure, and his extremely dedicated tenacity off the ball.
