This is how I feel about Lamela, who I think should’ve been trained as an outright CM due to his ability to take and keep the ball under pressure, and his extremely dedicated tenacity off the ball.

I've always thought that about Lamela. He simply too slow for the role he plays now.

I always thought Vertonghen was a far better wingback. At the end of the day players have to enjoy the positions they play in.

Unless we sell Sissoko and Ndombele or experience significant injuries to our other CM's, I don't see him starting many games. With talk of us getting PEH and Skipp goes out on loan, our league and Europa line-ups would most likely look like

League
----Kane --
Son------- Dele ------ Lucas
----GLC ---- PEH

Europa
--- Kane/Son/Dele ----
Bergwijn---------- Ndombele ------- Lamela
------- Winks ---- Sissoko ---------

There was talk of Jose training Gedson as an emergency RB, which could be interesting, though Gedson has never featured as RB professionally.

Not sure what's there to criticize about Gedson tbh. Even if he doesn't play another game for us it doesn't matter. It was a smart move to bring him in on loan in Jan with an *option* given our injury crisis at the time. It was as a low a risk signing as you could find. If he came in and ripped it up we'd have first option to keep him and if he flops, we don't have to take a big hit financially or struggle to sell him. Very different situation to N'jie, N'koudou, Jansen etc.

Exactly. He’s not going to be on huge wages either. He can play in a variety of positions too so I expect he will still be with us next season unless we need rid of foreign players to help the HG spots in the squad.

I’m not sure what Gedson is yet but if we get Europa, we have a whole season and we can see what he offers. Was a smart deal with the small loan fee for 18 months, especially with that Sissoko injury. He’s only had 6 months to settle also.
According to FM20 we're paying 300k a month throughout the duration of the loan plus wages

He is a young lad who joined us in the winter break from another country, everyone knows that the squad is unbalanced and to write him off just like that is funny.

If we sign PEH who would organise midfield, and switch to 433 I can see him getting games and improving in a proper system with solid foundations, patience is the key folks.

Don’t know how he’d cope in a back 4 necessarily but if we’re going to play a 3-4-2-1 he’s been everything you want in a wingback. I forgot how quick he was, and that ball in to Son was inch perfect. Very encouraging

He’s much more skilful and agile than Serge which makes him a better dribbler. He looks to have a decent ball on him too but you can’t really judge him defensively until he plays some serious opposition

I’ve been unable to watch. A 343 with Gedson and Sess at full back, Foyth and Davies flanking Toby, is that right?

How does it look? Particularly the wing backs?

Thought he did very well today. The big diagonals from Toby to him were good at beating the press a couple of times. He's also a lot faster than I thought.

At times i thought he had a cracking first touch but had a habit of losing the ball, showed great energy getting up and down but let himself down at tims by his decision making. Definitely some potential there but not sure he dependable enough in possession currently.

There's something about him that I like.
It's hard to put a finger on it but I think there's definitely something to work with there.
He was full of running today.

A good RB in there if the training goes in. Has the tools, crossing and athleticism to really become a force there.
