He’s taking up a non-HG spot limiting our ability to buy in Jan and he’s going to collect £6-8m in wagers for the coming season where he himself acknowledges he has zero prospect of playing. He was offered a chance to play elsewhere but decided he’d rather Spurs pay him millions not to play.
He and Spurs signed the contract.

He is entitled to see it out.

I don’t think he can fathom that at his age and after his performances last year he is isnt going to be anyone’s first choice GK

Those saying that he'll be released shortly, remember that he can't sign for any side whose window has closed even as a free agent. He would have had to been release by us prior to the PL window closing for that to be allowed. It has to be somewhere with the window still open, or nobody at all.

He isnt taking up any spots in the squad if he isn't going to be registered. I agree on the wages but I'd be fairly surprised if his contract wasn't terminated by mutual consent within the next two weeks.
Highly unlikely he’ll take that option, unless he already has an MLS option if they can still register.

Agree 100% he is entitled to see his contract out.
That doesn’t mean people can’t be disappointed after he said he wanted to leave, but then rejected numerous offers, in favour of Spurs paying him not to play.

Hugo announced he wanted to leave ages ago yet Nice leave it to the last hour of the window !!!!!!
Can't wait for the next transfer pantomime in January , the media haven't got Harry to talk about any more who they going to target now ?

Feel sorry that it seems to be a messy ending for a club legend with us. However, I’m sure it can only benefit Vicario training alongside Hugo until January.

On the one hand yes, on the other hand it is proper weird that our club captain of 8 years is hanging around the training ground while not being an active player at the club.

It's a bit like a CEO of 8 years leaves his position but gets to keep his keycard and is walking around the office not actually contributing to any actual work.

actually happens a lot....they normally call them a chairman!
or life president....etc
Lloris is a club legend ....hes earned it....maybe the club think he really is a good leader and are very happy for him to stay i do not know....but if the want him gone they will pay up his contract or do some deal with him

Depends on Hugo’s attitude.
He stated he wanted to leave, we have replaced him and it’s a whole new group of players and manager who seem to have formed a very quick rapport as a group with high morale.
Having a big figure like ex captain who doesn’t want to be there, moping about will damage the group morale

When you say an not an active player he is still technically contracted and on the club's books so he should be allowed to come and go to train and use the facilities until that next step is decided. He has given us 10 years of his life, I think it's the least he deserves.

I'd love to know what's really happened here over the last year or so.

Form fell off a cliff, some sort of almighty bust up at Newcastle, decided he was done with Spurs (or Spurs decided done with him) and yet still here - presumably unable to find a suitable destination.

Just utterly weird for someone who (other than a bit of drink driving) has generally been quiet, private and sensible - at least from the outside looking in.

By all accounts he’s always been super professional so I don’t think he’ll have any negative effect on the group.
