One of his skills is getting the ball back from unwary oppo defenders . Sometimes he feints coming in to tackle, then doesn't ,other times he uses his speed to surprise a defender and races in to tackle . Finally he seems alert to possible defence passes and is quick to make interceptions .

There was some ridiculous stat from recent match...Arse was it ? and Moura had made more tackles than both teams put together..

Moving in the right direction. Working hard, tracking back and influencing the game.

Most importantly though, getting assists - I've always felt he under indexed on this

I still think his passing and, in particular, his crossing could improve. But proving himself at the moment and a key part of our counter attacking.

I wonder what's been behind this improvement? Is it confidence? Tactical? Positional?

He seems to have more time on the ball and is less rushed, which is improving (albeit from an incredibly low bar) his decision making.

I thought his time was up but you can see why Mou likes him and he's starting to get into gear

Jose has turned him into our Willian. Hardworking fairly defensive winger who is really important at breaking up and transitioning play.

Huge respect to Lucas for fundamentally changing his game to adapt to this.

Sterling is one of smartest players in EPL. He was criticised for his finishing which has improved considerably
I wouldn't call him intelligent when he is on the ball and the defense is set in front of him, but he improved a lot under Pep as far as movement off the ball. And as i said, it doesn't mean this guys cant be great players, but i do not rate their reading of the game in situations that is better taking it slow, so i will always feel frustrated watching guys like that.

I haven't been a fan, but fair play to him for his workrate and tenacity. He's still not in my first choice starting XI, but I'm appreciating him a lot more.

So weird. On the right hand side he was a headless chicken. On the left and under Jose he’s picking out passes like Pirlo.

In what way?

Moura is on a completely different level and I was a huge fan of Aaron.
His work rate, his driving forward and his creativity on the break.

Lennon was phenomenal for us. Absolutely lethal. I would hesitate to put Lucas on a level with him yet, without any disparagement towards him in anyway.

The transition game suits him to a tee. He doesn’t have to make too many decisions on the ball. We still have the problem of what to do next season against weaker teams who want to sit back as much as Jose does. Lucas can get lost in these types of games where he doesn’t have space infront of him.

It's amazing how much better Moura has looked playing in a role/system that suits him. It is so easy to write a player off but sometimes you just need to use them the right way.

This is why I get frustrated with the stick that Winks gets as he isn't and never has been a defensive midfielder.

On a completely different level?

He’s had a couple of good games, Lennon was excellent in his prime for us so think that’s a harsh assessment there.

Some of the things Lennon could do with a ball were stunning and he wasn’t just about pace (although that was naturally a big asset).

Moura needs to keep improving his assist rate to justify his place in the team ahead of Bergwijn. He only has 5 assists in 72 premier league appearances, which quite frankly is appalling (especially when 2 of them came in the last game!). He also only has 4 PL goals to his name this season, which again is very poor for an attacking player for a club with CL aspirations. He needs to offer a combined 20 goals and assists a year, similar to how Son does on the other flank.

Premier League statistics from this season ...

Player - Appearances - Goals - Assists - Combined Ratio (e.g. goal/assist per game)
Son - 29 - 11 - 10 - 0.72
Dele - 24 - 8 - 4 - 0.5
Bergwijn - 13 - 3 - 1 - 0.31
Moura - 34 - 4 - 4 - 0.23

I agree there as aspects he needs to improve but as a defensive winger he is performing very well in our current system and is fully justifying his selection.

I see Lucas after a couple of good games is now the second coming, credit where it’s due yep but he needs to keep it coming consistently before he can be positively compared to peak Lennon

better presser no doubt but clearly needs more goals and assists
