You well know much of the displeasure was about how this deal was apparently set weeks ago, Ange didn’t get a CB to bed in on tour, and now we’re just getting verbally confirmed nine days before the season kicks off.

Nah, it's great that he's coming now but it would've been better to get him in before the tour.

Completely get you and @CanadaSpurs points, think my post has been a little misunderstood as I was referring more to there having been some people who thought we'd not sign a top CB target full stop based on some rumours and negative ITK etc and some were doomongering saying we would end up with e.g. Tosin & Lenglet or just Lenglet and panicking that because things had gone quiet that we'd pissed off the selling clubs and therefore had no chance of signing VDV or Tapsoba etc.

All I'm saying is none of us will ever truly know the full picture and reasons and all the moving parts during a transfer window, we have now signed VDV when many doubted we could/would, as I said for some reason I do feel like we have a plan again and am far more trusting in the process this summer and I think Ange is a huge part of shaping this plan, being decisive and signing off on realistic attainable targets who fit the clubs MO.

He's 22 and he's a really top player and signing.

Yea he'll have some mistakes in him but all the raw attributes to become a very top player and he suits Ange's style of football so well.

Doubt it. We had to bring in one CB regardless of everything else we have done this window. I'd buy that theory if we were getting both Tapsoba and VdV but until that happens I think it was just the necessary requirements.
