If you look at how we set up last season, Skipp was a useful squad player. However, with a high energetic press and little room for giving away stupid fouls (yellows)… Skipp no longer suits our style of play.

I don’t go for any of the homegrown waffle but unlike Winks, Skipp is certainly a better player. I don’t believe in the keep players around for the sake of it etc… but until we can find a ‘homegrown’ upgrade eg Gallagher (very unlikely), I would keep him around until at least next summer.

Winks was better than Skipp imo, especially with the ball.

I thought he did ok unfortunately the drop off when biss isn’t in the team is huge. For me Sarr, Hojbjerg and skipp are quite similar. Unfortunately skipps the weakest of the 3. I think he’ll have a fine pl career just not at top6 level.

Why in the world would you put Sarr in that category? The kid oozes class and has barely put a foot wrong for us.

Kalvin Phillips is the obvious one.

unlike Sarr, Skipp is not good enough on the ball to play in our system. he would suit in a low-table team which sits back.

Perhaps at this point after his injuries and lack of playing time for development he isn’t good enough for us off the bench, especially in this possession style team now, but he would 100% start for almost any team outside the top 10. He’s not good enough on the ball, we all know that, but what he can do off it is really really valuable for teams lower down the table that don’t look to move the ball forward quickly and try to keep it simple and be defensively solid. That’s where his value is and unfortunately that value is diminished in our current form and we’d be better finding a ball playing 6/8 to replace him. We do need HG players though, so it’s not super simple to just get rid and like others have said, our 6th or 7th choice CM isn’t exactly a massive priority of worry unless Bentancur doesn’t return at a good level.

Bad game for my boy last night; but I'd like to see him at 6 playing with the rest of the 1st team rather than receiving hospital balls from the other 2nd string players on the right hand side of midfield before I get all judgy.

We will never have this level of riches but when you think City last season or 2 had the likes of Guandoguan coming off their bench at CM, Liverpool had Henderson & Thiago, Arsenal now have Jorginiho, Man.U have Eriksen etc, we seriously need better than Skipp, especially if we want to challenge for the title this season and or from next season once we are back in Europe again.
You're handpicking certain players there. I mean we could say that we have Bentancur, Hojbjerg and Lo Celso outside our usual starting 3 of Maddison, Sarr and Bissouma. That's not really bad. Still need to see if Lo Celso is good enough but he showed some promising signs off the bench. Skipp is down the pecking order but he's homegrown and not bad for depth. He could be one to replace over time but we have 7 for 3 positions there and he's very much the 3rd choice number 8 when Bentancur is back. I do agree the drop off is clear but it won't be easy to replace him with someone who will work hard as a bit part player. I expect we need to replace Hojbjerg with another number 6 and could maybe need to replace Lo Celso with a 10 if he doesn't come good or wants to leave. So I think replacing Skipp is not a priority. He's just a funny one because he isn't best suited as an 8 but if we want 7 for depth in midfield he'll do a job.

I do feel that Skippy is not back to the level he was at before he got that injury. A year of footballer is a big miss for a developing player. He really needs games to see if he can get his form back. I think a loan would suit all parties.

I think having Udogie replaced by Royal, just before Skippy came on made it really difficult for him.

Not sure a loan will be ideal in Jan though with ACN and possibly Hojbjerg looking to leave. Need to monitor Bentancur too. Definitely a possibility for next season. See how he goes for the rest of this season. He's still very young and not everyone will get this system straight away.

he gets a lot of good will because his a academy lad, and seems like a nice guy, and people went way ott with the hype for him, calls of future Spurs and England captain, but his simply not good enough for a team with top 4 ambitions, no shame in that 99% of footballers are not, sure he will still have a decent career at a Fulham or Bournemouth

His 23, thats not very young for a footballer, Sarr is two years younger; he can no longer be considered or treated like a youngster
