Still think that Sess in, Rose out would be a step backwards THIS season. Needs a season to be blooded in behind a quality LB like Rose. I fear for us with Sess and KWP defending the flanks against Liverpool and City (and really any top 6 side TBH).

I maintain, Alexander-Arnold benefitted from quality coaching and opportunities to play/develop. Would Walker-Peters and Sessegnon be any different?
True in an ideal world, Sessegnon could be eased in with Rose and Davies around, but if it’s an either Rose or Sessegnon deal, then maybe we need to look at the longer term. Better to blood him in with Jan next to him still playing to such a high level.

As part of the academy setup TAA had been blooded into the squad for years, he made 7 appearances in the 2016/2017 season and 19 in 2017/2018. If Sess is eased into the squad this season with Rose gone it would be at the expense of Davies being our first choice, a backwards step for the upcoming season IMO.

A Family friend works in Fulham youth team. So they say Rose leaving spurs isn't the hold up. Onomah is the issue and his wage demands apparently.

I still think that Rose and Davies are good enough for the LB position. On the right side however.... That should be a higher priority.

Rose is good enough. But he's 29, reliant on pace, has longstanding fitness issues, struggles with his mental health, and openly wants to leave for the North at some point. Clearly in need of replacement sooner rather than later. Whereas on the right we can reasonably hope that one out of Foyth, Aurier and KWP comes good.

Yes but there is no rule saying that anyone nearing 30 has outlived their useful lives. He was excellent last season. And Davies is still solid. I agree that the club should be planning for his departure but it’s not in my opinion a priority. I’m not convinced by any of those right back options.

Not a rule of course - he could go on for ages. But if you had to bet on it based on what tends to happen, a player who is reliant on pace and hasn't had the best fitness issues performing at the top level much past 31 isn't that likely. We have to plan for that reality and bringing in one of the best young left-sided talents is fantastic. Even if there was a similar talent available on the right (Aarons, maybe?) I don't think it's so urgent when the options we do have are young and could grow.

This was the one signing I was supremely confident of earlier in the window. Now having seen this dragged out this long into the window, out of the 3 players we've been solidly linked with (GLC and BF), this is the one I think has a good chance of not happening at all.

I do not see Levy paying £40m for a player a year away from the end of his contract. From Fulham's perspective, if the mooted price of £15m from the tribunal is correct, then I can see why they're willing to take risk and not sell for the £20m that has been offered.

No where near replacing rose he played left back about 3x last season and my Fulham mates say he is a terrible defender. I'd expect him to only feature in cup games whilst we work on developing that side of his game of that is what we are doing. Those thinking our season hinges on this signing are way off the mark.
