He looks like a young player...in his first season in a foreign league...at a club that's had a chaotic season...that's had fear instilled in him rather than proper coaching by our former manager.

I am confident that he will be fine in the long term.
Hope so

Had high hopes for him but it’s not been great. Maybe why Madrid weren’t too bothered about him leaving.

The confidence of our team has been absolutely shredded by Mourinho. Reguillon looked world class when we first signed him and then slowly got worse. This season can't end soon enough.

Hate to break this to people that are counting on Sessegnon coming in and make the difference, it's not going to happen.

You can't have two left backs in the squad with neither having the ability to defend. Plus he isn't very good.
I'd much rather be patient with Sessegnon and give him a go as I think he's got a lot more potential

You can see his confidence is utterly destroyed. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wants to return to Spain. He’s a good player. He just needs a break and a chance to get back to higher levels. If Davies was fit I think we’d have seen him sit out a load of games.

Exactly. He's still settling into a new league, new life and a team with little confidence or systems to utilise him.

No getting away from yesterday's performance however, it was a shocker, regardless of who you are. But we've seen more experienced heads, not just in our team over the years, put in a dire performance like that. He's got a long way to go but one shite game doesn't make him useless.

Really can't work this guy out. Was class at Sevilla last year and for us early on this season. 2nd half of the season he's been so hot and cold, mostly cold. Is it a confidence thing or what?

I see a top player in there but think he needs an arm round the shoulder and some decent coaching.

Personally think he needs a season or so where we need a back 3, same as Sessegnon but our team doesn't seem to do well with the back 3.

All about coaching really. Getting systems in play where players can shift into areas to create/fill space, create overloads against the oppo. I think at least in Sess/Reguilon, we have those types of players on the left. Aurier is actually well suited to a WB role in my view as well moreso than as a proper RB.

Unfortunately in terms of that coaching needed, this season's been a complete write-off but I wouldn't rule it out for next year.

Yea he does seem more suited to LWB than LB I think you're right mate.
Potter would love a back 3 for us haha, so would Martinez oh god I said Martinez nooooo

He's been poor this spring, and what he did before the second goal was absolutely awful. But the own goal was just unlucky. Don't forget that Vincent Kompany, one of the best defenders in the league the past 15 years, scored this:

Yeah I actually think when you analyse the type of players we have that the back 3 makes sense, we don't have a dedicated DM that sits; we have a ball winning midfielder in hojbjerg. our fullbacks are very deficient defending but good going forward except for Tanganga who would probably suit being a RCB in a 3 more than a CB or RB. Our wingers all like to come inside which suits very much the 3-5-2 but also works for the 3-4-3 and our attacking cm's aren't traditional 10's or reliable in a midfield 2 due to the lack of the aforementioned dedicated DM and would probably benefit from the 3rd CB. I'd rather we sold Dier but if he's forced upon us still then I think the only thing he's good for is hybrid CB/DM because he can't play either in dedicated fashion but suits the half and half.

But I do think this is the problem not just with him but with lots of our squad. I keep reading that Jose has destroyed our players. Has he though?

These players are paid bloody handsomely to be professional footballers. I know players have dips in form etc which is no problem. But we seem to have so many fucking mentally weak players.

First and foremost we need people who will bloody leave everything out on the pitch in every game. The fans will quickly respond positively to that. But our lot literally show minimal desire. Honestly, I've never seen a side with such little desire.

Yes he might be struggling for confidence but you're paid well enough to work hard enough and get through it.

I'm just tired that Jose is used as an excuse for some of our weak arsed players.

But he wasn’t under any real pressure - no need to hack at it with his swinger. Don’t get me wrong - I think there’s a player in there, but a bit more composure and that og doesn’t happen.

I don't really blame him for the OG. Coleman was talking utter bollocks yesterday saying he tries to slash it away, when it's clear he's trying to side-foot it. Unfortunately it's his weaker foot and he times it badly. 99 times out of 100 he either clears it, completely misses it, or shanks it out for a corner and nothing is ever said.

The second goal was far more concerning. Any time a player takes 2 attempts to clear the ball and it still ends up in the back of the net is a real worry. He really needs to stamp this out of his game sooner rather than later.
