He needs to be either playing regularly for us next season or sold and replaced by someone that is, hopefully the former

They're a crap team with a couple of good attackers papering over the cracks. Their defence is woeful (and yet they decided to give them new contracts??).

They'll be erratic with their results until PEA and Lacazette leaves. Then they'll be solidly mid-table.

They've a few good youngsters coming through too. Saka, Martinelli and Willock the standouts.

TBF, Ndombele was good at first under Poch (in his first 5 games he got 2 goals, 1 assist and a MOM contender in at least 3 of the games), he seemed to do down hill after been hooked off at half time in the 3-0 loss to Brighton, when he was pretty shit but still better than the rest of the midfield that half.

He hasn't ever looked good with his fitness or mental application though, which is what he's struggled with.

I wouldn’t be happy to take a hit on Ndombele, think it is too early to cut our losses. Have seen enough to think he could come good and remember a lot of people on here who wanted to sell Son after his first season. I could understand if a huge offer came in that covered the outlay, but otherwise would give him next season.

Came in to post this anyway. For those wondering along the lines of why Barcelona might want him I'd point to their recent transfer business in this article. It isn't anything to write home about.

After selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for €222 million, the club spent a combined €375 million on Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, Paulinho, Nelson Semedo, Yerry Mina, Gerard Deulofeu and Malcom. This season, a further €273 million was spent on Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Martin Braithwaite, Neto, Junior Firpo, Emerson and Marc Cucurella. At this point, it is hard to describe any as a clear success.

This post has made me appreciate the chairman even more.

I'm still shaking my head at Paulinho.

Interesting. So FDJ hasn't been a success then?

The irony is Paulinho was one of their better signings, and was actually a hit. Paulinho was let go because of the non-EU player rules in Spain, and the club deciding the wanted Arthur and coutinho instead. So, they replaced him for Vidal. But he had a good season there.

Didn't they also sell some of them?
Malcom - €40m
Paulinho - €42m
Mina - €30m
Deulofeu - €13m

Not sure how much the scraped back in loan fees on Coutinho - €8.5m from Bayern?

Of course that still basically means this lot still leaves them them €514.5 in the red in fees!

Coutinho
Dembele
Semedo
Griezmann
de Jong
Braithwaite
Neto
Firpo
Emerson
Cucurella

That averages €51.45m per player. Granted, a good wedge of that could be recouped with Countinho, Dembele, Griezmann and de Jong (maybe €250m)

I doubt very much that it makes any sense to compare apple for apple the trajectory of Son and Ndombele.

It compares in the sense that both showed glimpses of talent in first season but didn’t look ready for the PL. Ndombele definitely has it in him to become a star for us and for the league in general.

Son and Ndomele are apples and pears. Ndombele isn't playing because he's never fit and doesn't appear to have the mentality for it. That was never in question with Son - similar to Moura, I just never got the feeling he was Poch's first choice in his spot until he forced it to be.

hahahahaha point.

Still, his performances were good for Barca, but was let go because of non-EU player rules.

Vidal for Paulinho also cashed them in a net profit of over 20 million.

There was a question with Son's Fitness, he himself admitted he struggled to get fit enough after he was injured (he missed 4 games and returned Mid November). Son only managed 1 x 90 min game that season, Ndombele has finished 3, in a more physically demanding position.

Also, I remember a lot of fans questioning his mentality, especially when he was hauled off at halftime in the 5-1 loss to Newcastle. He also asked to leave as he had struggled to adapt, but Poch managed to talk him out of it.

“I think it’s harder than what I thought. Everyone in the world talks about the English Premier League. It’s not easy but I play with my body and I can feel how important it is to get 100 per cent fit to play. This is an important thing to play in the Premier League.

“This season I think [I’ve been] a little bit unlucky. I started well, got injured and then getting fit took a long time. I’m still getting [back to] 100 per cent. But I’m very happy because I enjoyed this year in Tottenham."

Literally whatever happens with Jose or whatever there’s no way we should allow him to go this summer. If he has to suffer another year of bit part time due to him not being favored by Jose so be it. But we have to be willing to allow him to fail for one more season. Jose signed Modric and barely used him his first season he is not infallible.
