Good thing I'm already in the shower.
That picture is extremely Brokeback Mountain.

It's a real shame if he's downed tools. He's simply never going to make it as a top player if he's not prepared to work hard, whichever team he ends up at.
Happens to lots of clubs though- we’re not unique in thisBut we just know he is going to go somewhere else and fulfil his potential, and we’ll look like mugs as we always do. If something has the potential to make Spurs look like cucks, it will - Murphy’s law
Because he has been able to get by that way so far in his career. In the prem not only do you have extremely talented players, but they are also incredibly fit and hard working. Ndombele's talent alone is nowhere near enough. In fact, if he went down a few divisions he would find it even harder because talent plays even less of a role. He would get completely embarrassed if he rocked up in league 2 playing the way he has for us. He needs to either up his fitness significantly or go and play back in France or Portugal or turkey or somewhere. He'd get eaten alive in Spain, germany or Italy.I find situations like this, puzzling. To become an athlete and play/compete at the highest level, requires more than just natural talent. It requires commitment and hard work.
My better half was a very good athlete in multiple sports growing up (team and individual). She competed in high school state championships, the Junior Olympics and got full scholarship offers to division one universities here in the USA. She had to work and train extremely hard to get to that level, and even now, years on, she has the same attitude in both her professional life at work and her personal health and fitness. Fully committed and just naturally driven to give it her all.
So what I don’t get is how does an athlete get to a premier league players level (which is a massive step above my wife and athletes at her level), by being lazy? It’s never made sense to me.
Do they think they’ve ‘made it’ and therefore just take their foot off the gas? Were they always like this and managed to get sporting opportunities from a young age purely on ball skill but limited effort? If it was the latter, you’d think that they would have been weeded out before getting a chance with any half decent, professional football club.
So what’s the deal with him? It’s weird - knowing you’ve got ability to become truly world class in your sport, why wouldn’t you act like a professional and give it 100% to push on to the very top of your game?
Different sport but if you haven’t seen it and want to see an athlete who was a level above everyone around him, go and watch the Michael Jordan documentary ‘The Last Dance’. This is what you want to see and what I’d expect from a world class athlete. Even if you don’t like basketball, it’s an excellent documentary. I’m not saying he’s ever going to get to MJs level, but effort, and the drive/will to be a winner is what you expect and should be expected from all our players, especially the ones on £200k a week!
I dont think he will. He's just that sort of character. If you can't turn up when you are 23 and playing for a big club, when are you going to turn up?But we just know he is going to go somewhere else and fulfil his potential, and we’ll look like mugs as we always do. If something has the potential to make Spurs look like cucks, it will - Murphy’s law
Equally, he could wind up like Taarabt, who never lived up to his potential and only truly matured within the last year or so when he was in his early 30s and playing in a league that is miles below what he could have been capable of.But we just know he is going to go somewhere else and fulfil his potential, and we’ll look like mugs as we always do. If something has the potential to make Spurs look like cucks, it will - Murphy’s law
What are the rumours?
Didn’t realise people still read that crapThe Sun is the centre of creation for all things negative, so I wouldn't read too much into it.
You’re cherry picking.Yeah - his absence in preseason speaks volumes. Not sure if you could get odds on this but if N’Dombele plays another match for us I will certainly be surprised.
Hoddle wasn’t a maverick - just pure classPossibly, the modern game is different now. Teams generally don't carry mavericks.
He would be extraordinary in the modern game. As a modern footballer he’d have a more developed athleticism but the skill set and vision to operate as a lethal number 10 with the ability to open up locked defences or initiate fast moving counter attacks. With two athletic, functional midfielders behind him, he’d be less a luxury item (as the England international set up saw him) and more a vital piece in any modern squad that looked to balance defensive rigidity with creative, dangerous attack.Hoddle wasn’t a maverick - justDry pure class
